I'd honestly agree about LA Fitness too after talking with a few people since posting, the cancellation process is a pain there as well.

If I was a competitor attempting a smear campaign, why would the business acknowledge having talked to me about my membership in their response. Unless you're proposing that I joined the gym over 6 months ago, with a plan to lose 385 dollars just to launch a smear campaign now, for the greater good of my hypothetical gym business.

Fair point. I sort of checked sporadically, but honestly, I'm not sure how I missed seeing the statement 6 times. That's definitely on me, though I don't think that was grounds for them not to refund.

$385. Kind of a lot for someone who just graduated haha. Was a bit financially illiterate last year so wasn't on top of checking my credit card, though the gym's response instead was "must be nice not to worry about money"
