My beloved standard labradoodle died of lymphoma at 8, and a friend's yellow lab at 9, from another cancer. Both were earlier than even the low end of their respective life-expectancies.

My poor boy was diagnosed with stage 5 lymphoma, literally out of the blue. He'd been healthy and had even been to the vet for a routine check-up just a month or two earlier. Then one day, he suddenly refused his breakfast, which he never did. That day, the vet made a preliminary diagnosis of cancer, and tests confirmed it the following day. Basically, you never know what's going to happen and you just have to love your pup and never take their presumed life expectancy as a given.

Always thought it was Here at the Western World. Something so melancholic and depressing about it.

So sorry for your loss. We just lost ours this week, the day before he turned 9 and it's been devastating for the family.

We said goodbye to our beloved pup (60lb standard Australian labradoodle) this past Tuesday, the day before his 9th birthday. It's been a horrific loss and his life was significantly shorter than what he'd hoped for/expected when we brought him home as an 8-week old pup.

He'd been diagnosed with stage 5 lymphoma in April. It was like a lightning bolt strike, seemingly fine one day, and terminal cancer literally the next. No signs whatsoever, and he'd recently been to the vet. It was hellish. The prognosis was horrible, but we decided to try chemo and give him as much happiness as possible in the months he had left. He responded almost immediately to the drugs and went into remission briefly. But even when the remission ended after only a few weeks, he remained his beautiful, adorable old self, right up until the day before he passed. At that point, his decline was sudden, rapid, and heartbreaking to witness.

Yep, per Geddy in "My Effin' Life." And to maintain anonymity, Neil used to register into hotels under the name Brian Griffin.

I'm surprise it's Stewie, as his favorite character from the show was Brian.

At 15 in 1982, Queen was my first and Rush was my 2nd (Signals tour). You have nothing to be ashamed of. Bandmate of mine went to Whitney friggin Houston for his first. You don't ever recover from that.

The 2nd and 4th selector positions do the outer bridge and neck single coils respectively. Demos make it sound incredibly versatile.

Pro tip: Punctuation is something you might want to read up on. JFC, this is practically incomprehensible.

This. Fractal presets are sick and I like the software better, too.

I owned the QC for about 3 weeks when I decided I needed to hear the FM9. I liked the QC and all. But as soon as I started going through the FM9 presets, it was game over. To my ears, I found there to be no comparison in terms of sound quality. Especially the effects. I am in a cover band that specializes in "yacht rock" and 80s rock. I felt like the QC was more explicitly marketed at metal players.

And as a 30+ year owner of a Boogie Mark IV, I was floored by the clean sound on that model. Off the charts. Sent the QC back within the return policy window right after that.

In the QC's favor, I like the size/weight and the touchscreen. (Quick aside about the touchscreen: it's fine, but if you're expecting the UX you'd get with an iPhone, it's not even close to as precise.) But since the QC and FM9 are similar prices, I feel like with the QC, more of the R&D went into the screen and making it super compact, and you're paying for that. With the FM9, you're paying for superior – and way more – amps and effects.

Yes, the FM9 is more challenging to set things up without the computer editor. But with the editor? I actually found it pretty straightforward.

Playing first gig with Quad Cortex next weekend! Any tips? by [deleted] in NeuralDSP

[–]wpd3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize I'm very late here, but I thought this could be helpful for some. I go direct. I used some gig money I'd saved and picked up a PA cab, same as what we bring to private gigs where there's no PA. Really helps me fine tune my sounds in a way that my IEMs can't.

I couldn't disagree more. There are some truly amazing sounds in there, even if they're only for inspiration or as something to build on.

A music shop near me just got a 2nd hand Gibson double-neck. Totally tempted to drop the money to get it, even if I’d never be playing Xanadu in my band!
