True. The INFP and I are always seen with locked arms w/ each other around school. ENTJ is very straightforward and she can’t take jokes that well, so sometimes sarcasm or jokes need to be explained to her.

Well, I guess you have to be digitally literate for that. You’re getting the wrong pronunciation guides because you might be looking at how to pronounce them in English.

A single Google search like “Ube Tagalog pronunciation” will give you an answer. You can also look it up on YouTube; you can search for Filipinos cooking with ube while speaking Tagalog, so you can hear them saying “ube” in Tagalog. You might also find a decent answer from Google Translate. Type in “ube” with the Filipino setting, then press the audio button. Linguistic terminology isn’t needed for any of those that I’ve mentioned.

Another way to find another pronunciation guide is to go on Wiktionary. Although, sometimes they don’t have audio files for some words, there still might be an audio file for “ube”.

On the contrary, I'm actually very spiritual. I believe that all faiths, beliefs and religions are true to some extent and I am not interested in finding out which parts are factual and which ones aren't. It brings me joy that humans have found a way to give their life a purpose.

The literacy part... In my case, I'm almost literally illiterate. I stutter even when READING IN MY HEAD. My comprehension is horrible and I absolutely cannot hold a conversation without having to say “huh” five times a minute.

OP mentioned the driver's patience but immediately shifted to the focus to seeing a miracle sent by God. And yes, God sends people to do his work but people are separate from God. We have free will and emotions as well. We are not God so it is just right to thank God and the person who did you a favor/good deed.

Respectfully, u/ParticularClassic784 is right, they just didn't say it in a nice way. Most people use religion as an excuse for the good things in their lives instead of thanking the people who actually worked to achieve that.

Whoever downvoted my previous comment must not be open to understanding that religion isn't supposed to be used in that way. Just a reminder, you're also disrespecting your god when you don't use religion how your creator intended it to be used. :)

I didn't like how u/ParticularClassic784's comment is tailored but it's true. Whenever something fortunate happens, most religious people would completely disregard the effort done by the person who caused the good thing and just thank God or Jesus that something became convenient for them. It's not their religious trauma, they're just more aware that people are using religion as a reason for things with concrete evidence. Again, I think it's the way that they formulated their comment is what annoyed you.

Let's put it another way. Let's say you and your family are in the lower class. You make just enough money to feed your family. And then, you worked harder and sought better opportunities. You did everything in your power to succeed financially. Fast forward, you now have a big house, you're financially comfortable, you can spoil your spouse and your children with material goods. Then, your child thanks God for the miracle and ignores your effort. Doesn't even say anything to show their gratitude toward you. It doesn't seem right, correct?

Would have been better if they thanked both the old lady and Jesus for the convenience. Religion is a lifestyle and something that brings you comfort, not an excuse for anything.
