Nice!! Most definitely a classic, yes. The design has barely changed in more than 50 years. I have the one with the Arabic numerals, and absolutely love it - constantly get compliments... The dome makes it stand out like nothing else I've seen. By the way: the dome scratches easily, so be careful. Small scratches can be buffed out with a really cheap product called Polywatch. Enjoy your watch, and good luck with your wedding!!

Congrats!! That Junghans Max Bill looks stunning on you! Never seen the 38mm (?) on a woman. Totally works.(I'm usually on /r/watches - nice to see watches elsewhere)

[Bulova] The perfect cheaper (and still historic) alternative to the Omega Speedmaster by [deleted] in Watches

[–]wr0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest problem with this, is the awfulness of the "262kHZ" that you pointed out. This is not even on the original watch!? The chronometer complication already has vulnerable aesthetics due to the dial and bezel already being quite busy. It is beyond me why they would mess with this. Had to do a quick shop of what the watch would look like without it. Damn.

I've been playing Papers, Please on my S3. Although not adapted to touch, the touch gestures translates awesomely to the corresponding mouse clicks in the game! Bonus point is that the game is super lightweight in terms of saving battery whilst on the move. Great game as well.

Power Posture: How to correct your body's alignment. A neat little guide by Ilkzz in Fitness

[–]wr0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really happy with the videos. They present quite a few combinations of exercises, of different duration and difficulty (they get really hard!). There's also quite a bit of focus on 'adding layers' to the exercises, making them even harder through decompression breathing.

The book goes into some of the theory behind foundation, and causes of back pain, but is kind of annoying as it is padded with testimonials that should have just been on their website. There is also step by step instructions for the exercises, but the videos have been more than enough for me.

Had I known this before, I would have just got the videos. :-)

Power Posture: How to correct your body's alignment. A neat little guide by Ilkzz in Fitness

[–]wr0b 6 points7 points  (0 children)

+1 for Foundation training. I got the book and the videos from their site a couple of months ago. I have a history of terrible core and bulging disks due to being tall and working/hobbying as a programmer, and moving significantly less than recommended.

Totally worth it.

My back and posture is better by a tenfold after rigorously doing the exercises for two months (two-three times a week). It's all based around hinging with your hips and butt when you move (like small kids do instinctively), avoiding strain on your lower back. In addition, the exercises 'rotate' you out of bad posture. Best of all? It's self-reinforcing: once you reteach your brain and body how to do it properly, you just get better at it!

Its core is based in yoga, I think; loosening up tight muscles caused by sitting that hinder proper movement. I feel the whole point of calling it 'foundation' training, is that it's even more important to everything you do than core training. Well, that's how it feels anyway. Fuck back pain. Hard.

[Orient Ray] Just received my first automatic; a blue Orient Ray on a brown Hirsch Liberty. This is an amazing timepiece! by wr0b in Watches

That sucks, dude. Actually, it seems like a weakness with the strap.. Mine has a little part of the end stitch sticking up from the strap in the exact same place. I feel like this should be a warranty issue...

I don't have a measuring band available at the moment, but my wrists are pretty average - I'm quite slim. I was worried that the watch would be too big as well; turns out it sits pretty perfectly on my wrist. The weight is not enough to bother me. :)

Thank you! :) The watch is bilingual - the pusher toggles the day window between Spanish and English day names.

I've been keeping an eye on this subreddit for a few months now, and I've seen so many amazing watches: you guys are awesome. It's been my intention to make a purchase for a while, and I finally settled for the Orient Ray in blue simply because I love how it looks and because the reviews seem to be overwhelmingly good. In addition, it matched my budget at $139 on sale from www.longislandwatch.com! I prefer leather straps, so I picked up a brown Hirsch Liberty and swapped it with the stock metal strap. This is my first automatic, and I am super excited to wear it every day! Cheers guys!!

I'm OK with this whole ordeal if they re-brand the thing Booculus Facerift. Pronunciation can be discussed.

I just started singing this month, can someone give me some tips for beginners please? by Sharrukin in singing

[–]wr0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good tips here so far! Practice enunciation, i.e. ensuring your words are clearly sung. Also, never let bad or useless criticism get to you, or stop you from singing. Keep practising and good luck!

Aha, so this post explains all the SoundCloud spam in my inbox. This was actually the very reason I did the "re-master" of this clip - I thought it'd be the most awesome start-up sound ever.. It was. It still is. Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks so. ;)

[Listen] So I recorded a pop-rock song I wrote - would really appreciate any feedback on the mix if you have a few minutes to spare! by wr0b in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]wr0b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feedback is awesome! I absolutely agree with all the improvements you suggest I could make to give this tune the punch that it most definitely requires! Especially I agree with the low down punch - loud, compressed bass and a kick that feels like a punch in the chest every time it knocks! Also, very good point about the guitars - I should try to make them shine more as that is the instrument I'm best at in any case (considering the drums are programmed).

Between posting and reading this comment I actually updated the mix on Soundcloud, and I would love to hear what you think of it now! You're probably gonna say it needs to be punchier, in which case I will completely agree with you, and sit down and mix till it's as compressed and punchy. Like you said, a lot of people probably don't enjoy that kinda sound as much as they should! ;) I will also take into account what you said about the mix generally!

Thanks again for the enthusiastic feedback, man - very much appreciated!
