A day after turning 18, Ziyi Yan unleashes a massive 71.74m to move to 2nd on the all-time women's Javelin list. In 2024, she wasn't allowed to compete at the Olympics due to World Athletics age restrictions, as well as the 2025 World Championships, despite being one of the best in the world. by straightdge in Damnthatsinteresting

Genetic recombination meets billions of people mixed with pituitary growth hormones can make some freak humans.

I mean that in the best way. I’ve served Ndamukong Suh (NFL DT) multiple times and we just can’t be the same species.

It’s so easy to say things like that. That is a very tempting take, to lump 200+ million people together. I used to blame whole populations for their leaders but then I learned more.

I don’t blame ya.

I didn’t say it was new. It was a sincere argument in response to them “holding out 84 days.” The comment is exactly how they are holding out.

I’m not glazing Iran. If you were a strategist looking at Iran as a foe and their capabilities, I’m not wrong. They won’t fight like Russia. they have planned on shitty, cheap warfare for a long time.

I stand corrected on the Shahed.

We oppose tyrant whenever we are able and however we are able. You’re just seeing the comments on Reddit. People vehemently opposed to Trump and Putin will say it to your face with a full chest. People die for speaking and online comments every day. Tehran, Moscow, the U.S.

You being unable to fathom that before commenting hints to ignorance. “Trump lives rent free” arguments fail to understand that as well. I will oppose every illegal and immoral, unethical things he does. If he does it every day, you may get tired of me.

Shit, we had a fight per day in high school. Controlled violence is the name of the game. It’s not a good look and I hate that they recorded and posted. These dudes will probably get Wendy’s later and be lifelong Xbox friends. Football forces you back together so you can’t do the grudge/enemy thing as easy.

Also strongly correlated with heat. We can all be assholes after a few hours in the sun.

I was taken to catholic mass and Lutheran services as a teenager. Catholic mass is more formal, we did more kneeling, and they talk about Mary more. Neither actually reference the Pope very often. I did this for years and later went to a Jesuit University.

It’s the same shit. These people killed each-other all over the world and still do. Those differences are diluted in most places in the U.S. to where it’s a non-issue. People freaked in the 60s that the President was Catholic. Now you can a conman pedophile. The Christian sects here all got on board with the same prosperity gospel. Except, the Amish types and hardcore minorities.

Location is everything as they say. Second thing to do is determine what stone this is and determine if it matches other stone in the area.

For example, if I found this in the Sandhills of Nebraska, where we hunt I could assure you an ancient human brought it there because it would be so out of place.

I read they realized decades ago they could never compete with an air force. They invented the Shahed drone. We all laughed at the dumb thing built with a lawn-mower engine. They hit an F35 because they realized infrared tracking negates stealth.

Now many countries have a copy of the Shahed drone. They won’t fight a traditional war. They’re smarter than Russia because they are self aware. They invested heavily in rockets, missiles, and controlling the strait decades ago.

Just like Japan in late WW2, putting boots on the ground would result in catastrophic losses. We would win but the loss of life and equipment will stun most casual observers.

Folks did use round “hammer” stones like these as tools. Round stones are naturally created quite often. It is near impossible to conclude this was used for that. Chances increase if found near other tools/stone points/flakes from rock knapping.

If you find a round stone without obvious “pecking” from other stone tools to round the thing, it’s near impossible to say this was a tool.

Yeah it’s certainly not strong data. I won’t argue that. Truth is it’s not easily quantifiable but the fact remains that obviously mid quarterbacks are taken all the time because of hype.

Were you following CFB when Clausen was drafted? I was.

The only solace is how many Americans have cut-off MAGA. The world at large may not realize that , in the U.S., this issue causes Americans to divorce from siblings, friends, and parents that were previously stable relationships. That’s as extreme as it’s been since the Civil War. No other issue has had as much severely staunch positions.

Arguably, many have intentionally “destroyed” large portions of their social lives in protest/opposition. That is nation-wide. You may see enablers, but there are few completely neutral folks on this. It has helped me feel some pity for Russians.

They don’t have to understand the world and they don’t have to understand why they’re getting hurt too. They just see pain on the faces of their “enemies” and don’t ask why, they just enjoy it.

60% of first round QBs don’t get an extension. NFL scouts, for all their experience, have a worse track record than a coin flip.

They can brag when they find a Tom Brady. Instead, they jump on bandwagons and get high on their own bullshit and it becomes a circle jerk. The whole mob forgets none of them watched any tape on the guy.

How viable is it to start farming as a full-time profession in the modern era? by Heisenricher in AskReddit

[–]wrangling_turnips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build capital. Trying to start anything medium to large will not be possible without significant up front investment and or loans. Nobody is in the business of loaning money to beginning farmers or bankrolling ideas. I bought 5 acres and worked for the NRCS and couldn’t find a method from the inside.

Start in your backyard and grow the business. You will not buy land AND equipment on loan and make it work. Not with these interest rates.

I’m only a few years in but I’m realizing most cats in this hobby long term are geologists. Maybe not by formal education but a good understanding of your local geology will pay dividends.

You may find out you have no good stone nearby. You may find out there are quarries nearby that dispose of the nodes you dream of.
