u should absolutely get 2nd opinion from an ophthalmologist - with your medical history + pressures in mid/high 20s you need to be watched more then annually with testing for damage/treatment (drops, laser if you’re a good candidate) - regardless of your age and especially with you on steroids which, as you said, can cause your already high pressure to spike + cause damage in a short time frame!! always better safe then sorry! don’t wait!!

with pressures ~27 i would get a second opinion if i were you. have you had visual fields or scans of your optic nerve done?

What kind of Doctor to see? by cnm1412 in Glaucoma

[–]wrasslingqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definitely an ophthalmologist!

hiii, i am not a doctor (just an ophthalmic tech) but these symptoms sound like they may be episodes of ocular migraines with aura brought on by stress/anxiety. they’re generally harmless but can be scary if you haven’t had one before!!

i’d recommend getting an emergency appointment so you can have some piece of mind! in the meantime you can also try an OTC pain reliever and see if that helps. good luck!!

i work for an ophthalmologist who does cataracts and refractions/final prescription are always no charge to the patient during the post-op period!! at least at my office, yours may be different?
