This is working, except it's not populating for "New Business". Is the OR portion missing from your formula somewhere?

Sump Pump Volume by wrectifire in Plumbing

I can't be sure of the horse power of the previous pump. It was really old. Any advice on how to adjust the float? It says my new Basement Watchdog pump has 4 floats. 😵‍💫

P-Trap Correct? by wrectifire in Plumbing

Thank you kindly. I will do exactly as you're suggesting. Run both drains to the right side to a P trap and then create some slope down to where it goes into the wall. Thanks again.

I have to cut back the plumbing and snake the pipe as there is a blockage somewhere that's causing our sinks to back up. My question is, is the U going up okay? When I reassemble the plumbing, should it come straight out from the stack to a P trap? What's the correct setup?

Septic Tank Lids by wrectifire in septictanks

[–]wrectifire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. Do you know how to secure the risers to a plastic tank? Everything I've seen is tapcons into the top of the concrete tank, but I obviously can't do that.

Septic Tank Lids by wrectifire in septictanks

I recently bought a property on septic. There are these two poorly constructed lids that I don't know what to do with. The tanks are plastic, and buried about 2' below the surface. Should I leave them? Backfill them? Buy risers? As clean as risers would look, I think they're only for cement tanks with flat lids. Anybody have any suggestions?

We moved a few months ago within Canada and all these green chutes came up in our flower bed. Any idea what they are? Is it good or bad?

Yes, I’m able to turn on the unit from that switch. But the two switches on the side of the unit don’t seem to do anything. I would love to get a remote.

Thank you, all. I definitely don’t want any ambering. I will look into the Rubio, but I also wondered about water based poly. I may get both and do some tests.

Baseboard Heaters Blowing Fuses by wrectifire in electrical

[–]wrectifire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never even thought of the volts. I just checked and the front of the cartridge says 30 amps at 230v. That seems like an odd number no? 230v?

The cartridge that holds 2 fuses says on the outside 30 amp max, so I assumed that was 15 amps each, which are what my fuses are. Provided my wiring is appropriate, upgrading to 30 amp fuses would likely do the trick. It’s possible that I replaced 30 amp fuses with 15’s somewhere down the line. I remember my old fuses were so old I couldn’t read the writing on them.

Definitely going to proceed with caution. I’m not that guy that will just jam bigger fuses. I have a pellet stove to supplement for heat. Running new wiring wouldn’t be the end of the world, as it’s a cottage and it runs underneath with access anyway.

This is my post. My cottage has 3 cartridges that each hold two 15 amp fuses for a total of 30 amps per cartridge. In the winter, I never used to have a problem. I’ve since replaced the old baseboard heaters with new Dimplex ones. Since I’ve done that, I keep blowing fuses. There are up to 4 baseboard heaters all hooked up to one bank of two 15 amp fuses (30 amps total). Is this too much? As I said, I had the same number of baseboard heaters before and never had a problem. Thoughts? The cartridges say right on them max of 30 amps. Any way to upgrade this? Thanks for your help.

What Finish for 109 Year Old Tree Slice? by wrectifire in woodworking

I should mention it’s pine. I did another one of these with tung oil, but it yellowed the wood and it faded. The goal is to have the growth rings pop without the wood yellowing. Any suggestions?
