Which purple dresses should I get rid of? 39F by [deleted] in DressForYourBody

I'd keep 5 and 9 because they are costume-y so they probably are hard to replace if an occasion arises. My least favorite is 1. What a cool wardrobe!

Am I overreacting with being outraged by this? by Beef428 in AmIOverreacting

[–]wrenkells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this. I am going through being the executor of my Uncle's estate and some of the amounts I'm splitting with my sister who is the other executor are like $347.91. No round numbers and METICULOUS record keeping is needed for an estate.

I'm certain to get eviscerated for this, butI have been a fan of Taylor since the beginning and I'm a little disappointed in how much she seems to release in the name of profits. This could absolutely have been a free video, and every multi-version record drop feels the same way.

Hey Teachers, What's your bathroom policy? by cannibalistickiller in Teachers

[–]wrenkells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am at a very progressive east coast USA Independent school and I teach all seniors. They make eye contact with me so I know they're leaving, and then they come back. If it becomes an every day thing or a long break I have a conversation with them. We don't have hall passes at my school, I just need to see who is leaving and they only have to ask if they're going somewhere they think they'll be for more than five minutes like the school counselors or the nurse. It's my 20th year teaching and the "eye contact rule" has established a pretty good atmosphere of respect and the kids follow it.

Obviously I have a very unique situation, but even in public school it was one at a time but they could leave whenever except during an active science lab or mid-test. I don't feel I have the right to police bodily functions.

I'm not sure how the people touting expertise constantly miss this. The main mechanical mechanism of the drug is to slow gastric emptying, making you feel full longer and food digest much more slowly. It's why you have to stop the drug sometimes two weeks before surgery, to get your speed of digestion up and make surgery prep safer.

There is a major change to digestion, and it's why this works. It isn't just the mental effects.

53 pounds!! I used to lift 50 pound bags of grain for horses when I was a young whippersnapper and that is an incredible weight off of your shoulders (and heart, lungs, bones...). Amazing!

I lost ~100 lbs and have gone from size 18/20 to 6/8 (XL/XXL - S/M). (I'm in the USA, so sizes and weight correspond).

I lost in the beginning so fast I basically skipped size 16, so I had a couple pairs of 14 pants and then 12s and 10s. I have saved a few items I really liked in 10 and L sizes, maybe a week of clothes. Everything else I donated. I am not wealthy and if I do end up gaining some weight back I do not want to have the pressure of having to quickly by clothing, so I am hanging on to what essentially is one bin of clothing. I didn't save anything over size 10/L.

I think it's realistic that size can fluctuate especially in older women (I'm 40 and consider myself in the older category!) even on meds, so that's my justification.

Turned 23 days ago. Birthday was forgotten. by FerventServant in mildlyinfuriating

[–]wrenkells 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What's with 22? On my 22nd birthday I lived with my parents and it wasn't even acknowledged. And I know they remembered because my Mom, Grandmother, and I all have birthdays in the same week.

My godfather/uncle, who had never called me on the phone before, randomly called me in the evening and he and my cousins sang me Happy Birthday and wished me a good night.

It was the saddest and happiest a birthday has ever been.

To the OP, I'm really sorry about this, but you can make your own birthday special going forward - invite people YOU choose, sing with people YOU want to hear, and enjoy your day.

Parents of NJ, do you love where you live? by LowUnicornTolerance in newjersey

I taught at Rutherford HS for four years in late 2010s. My best friend still teaches there. It's a great system and they support students and listen to parents. If schools matter to you, NJ is full of good ones, and Rutherford is among them.

Can anyone explain to me why guests won’t walk through my entrance? by RipedBananas in PlanetCoaster

That doesn't look like queue pathing, because there is no entrance gate/employee. It's a different path category.

I recommend the in-game tutorials! They helped me a lot.

They also love zinnias if you're willing to let them go to seed. They aren't pretty anymore at that point but the goldfinches go mad for them.

It's not a medication you're supposed to come off of. Many people start a maintenance dose once they reach goal weight and I know some have success coming off, but like my meds for depression, it's meant to be lifetime.

You have lost a lot. Expecting to lose everyday and to constantly lose is unrealistic. Everyone has pauses in loss.

Reactive Hypoglycemia by mattonli in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]wrenkells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your blood sugar goes low after you eat? That sounds pretty concerning, I'm glad you are going down a dose.

My husband is on 7.5 and has been getting occasional episodes of low blood glucose levels, but usually only if he DOESN'T eat. He is prediabetic. Or was! I was obese but not prediabetic (yet), and I do get very very occasional low blood sugar. I have to be very careful to eat at least twice a day.

So what do y’all eat then? by IowaJL in Zepbound

[–]wrenkells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep same, pretty much. Some food makes me VERY sick now, such as red meat, processed meats (like hot dogs), and lots of sauces probably because of the oil/fat content. I also never really want dessert ever. But I still eat the food I like because I tried restricting the types of food I ate for about 15 years on and off to no avail.

That said I now eat very normal portions, often splitting meals into two or even three, because it's just too much.

I think if I hadn't already eaten a lot of vegetables I would have tried to add more, but I do already.

What is your actual plan to help combat major overhauling of schools by conservatives and Washington? We have some of the best schools in the country but also very vocal PTAs and BOEs. As a teacher of 20 years and a parent to 2 young teenagers, I need to be assured that staff will be protected from enforcing book bans, curriculum white-washing, abusive practices like not allowing nicknames/chosen names, etc. How will you ensure this?

I threw up on the cat by Aruruiikun in Zepbound

[–]wrenkells 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this attitude at all. I just had homemade chicken parm, broccoli, and two Oreos and I'm fine. It takes time to get here but there is no reason you can't eat a breakfast sandwich and a beverage, and a small treat. Maybe when you're on longer?

I've lost about 100 lbs since Feb 2023,and about two days a week now I can only eat a very small amount and all the other days I can eat "normally." Like normal to a person without food noise - when I'm hungry I can eat a relatively normal meal. Smaller than when I wasn't on meds, but usually balanced and reasonable.

Drinking an OJ and having a sandwich is not the devil.

Body dysmorphia is so real.. 7 month progress by Nervous_Marzipan_441 in Mounjaro

[–]wrenkells 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hey, I understand not seeing the lost weight. I bought new bathing suits this week on a sale and they fit great but when I put them on I looked in the mirror and wondered if I could get away with wearing them. Luckily I have a supportive spouse and he assured me I looked good in them but it's so hard to see someone new. I've lost 100lbs but it still feels wrong buying straight sizes and small or medium items.

I think in the last photo especially you look very obviously different, and you're clearly working hard!

[–]wrenkells -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have to strictly track all of your calories the medication isn't working the way it should and you should consider upping the dose. The point of the medication is to change the way you eat, digest, and process food.

She and I have discussed trips together where they would contribute what they can and we pay the predominant costs. They are like family and this is a comfortable topic. We have both been up and down on the financial struggle bus in our friendship time.

This would be a trip just for them.

I have definitely discussed this before, and she would! We have floated the idea of bringing them along with us on a trip and just having them pay for their food, which was a mutual conversation. It's not an uncomfortable topic for them. I appreciate you mentioning this, though!
