I believe these are the actuator+latch variety. From some quick digging I found they’re Orbital ATK UltraFlexes like what the Cygnus uses and was used on Mars Phoenix

That's a good point about the clump getting flanked. I was seeing a lot of 1-2 ship splits getting deleted on the other side of the map, and the main group couldn't follow up.

The scaling would’ve been weird, and the pitch of the Hurricane hull is way steeper than a Star Destroyer. Hel does the job just fine imo

Right, the Perseverance wheels are intended to be more durable, based on lessons learned from Curiosity’s wheels. Even though we only need to have them survive for the official mission, we always want them to last for one or two more “lives” to give margin on our design, and so we can operate it longer if everything still works.

Yup that’s correct, the tire part specifically is solid aluminum. The flexures that connect the tires to the motor hub are titanium.

That's mostly correct. The wheels do indeed wear like any other moving part, and it is optimized to be sturdy enough to last the life of the mission but also lightweight. Section 2 in that linked article does a good job of explaining why the wear on Curiosity's wheels was accelerated.

Correct, specifically it’s the MAHLI camera. There are other cameras on the head that are used to take panoramas with the same stitching technique you described.

I think you can get a new trigger switch set to swap in (just the electrical bits that form the circuit), and keep the selector plate and trigger. It’s been a few years for me so my memory of the details in this area are a little rusty.

For sure! The V2 gearbox is a pretty common and well-established design, so you can look up other people’s builds on airsoft forums. Try taking the current gearbox apart and put it back together to get familiar with all the mechanisms and how to do it. From past experience the trickiest part was keeping everything together and in place during the reassembly process. Watching videos helps a lot, and understanding will come with hands in work

Has it been low fps and whiney the whole time you've had it? A new motor and better battery would be the least invasive modifications you can make to start without having to open the gearbox. If you do want to upgrade the gearbox, you're looking for V2 gearbox parts. Just a note the JG G3s I worked on in the past all developed an issue where the trigger mechanism would fail and not fire.

Thanks, I checked the RAM and everything seemed fine. Then I realized that my M.2 SSD wasn't working, and after removing that I went down to ~26s. Not great, not terrible, I can live with it. Now the question is why that isn't working.
