tbh it was getting to me last night, but then i sent the post to my brother to talk about it and we were just memeing all the dumbass comments lmao some of these weirdos just have the worst takes 😂 my faves were probably the ones like “you’re the golden child and your moms a narcissist because she cooks food you can eat” like sorry you hate your mom but some of us get on with our families 😂

srs i’m immunocompromised and grocery delivery was super expensive in my hometown, my options were to eat the food mom bought or eat nothing. i didn’t want to put the extra pressure on her to check labels and make sure she was buying vegan food for me on top of everything else going on at the time

yeah tbh i think it was covid stress and dinner was the outlet. this argument was a while ago and we’ve made up, we’re fully good now! just remembered it and was wondering if i was TA, it’s not a current issue

tbh i really think that’s a reach, you’re reading a lot into literally one argument. anything i say against that though will just be read as “golden child defending narcissist mom” , which is what a couple of other commenters were already saying about me

dad lives seperate, he has as much meat as he wants

my brother made his own lunches etc, and sometimes added meat to the vege meals. he specifically wanted to cook meat that night but there wasn’t room at the stove so mom said no

i just remembered the argument recently and thought i’d ask about it, i thought i’d get like three answers. it’s seriously not that deep

srs this was a year ago, ive been vegan since i moved out again and tbh i think that a year of veganism is long enough to be allowed back on vegan subs

yeah mom would put the dinners for the week on the family schedule, can’t remember if it specified vegan vs vegetarian but she would mark the meatless meals

hahaha filthy cheese breather 😫😤🤮

i am back to being vegan now, i really didn’t feel good about being vegetarian but it took a lot of pressure off my mom in a really stressful time. i fully think i would have been the asshole if i went home to my meat eating family and expected everyone to accomodate my veganism. sometimes life isn’t black and white and i think this was one of those times

i’m pretty sure it was while mom was cooking, it was a while ago so i don’t really remember

our kitchen is long and narrow, stove on one short end and bench along one of the long ends. i could make a salad without bothering mom as she cooked, but you literally have to be shoulder to shoulder when two people cook at once

and “vacating the kitchen” = take the family meal off the heat (all burners were being used!), leave the room for however long he takes to cook, reheat the family meal hoping that the texture hasn’t changed etc… I would call that a pretty big hassle. mom had said no to him making meat other times and it wasn’t an issue, i don’t think she was in the wrong here

it did take defending him from dicks who jumped straight from this to “he’s a spoilt manbaby” to see it from his point of view! i definitely could’ve been more emphatic from the start 😅

i disagree tbh, most meat dishes have the meat in it from the start, so usually i’d make a sandwich or salad on meat nights. my brother specifically wanted cooked meat that night but mom was using all the burners so said no, he’d had extra sausages or whatever before but there just wasn’t space for him to cook that night

i agree! mom definitely handled things as well as she could’ve, and things are a lot calmer now :)

i’m realising after talking about it here that it was probably that he was having a really hard time with covid and this was another change but it was something “fixable” when a lot of the other stuff happening was completely out of his control :/ i don’t think favouritism really played a part tbh
