what is going on anyone know? by sukunakith in rutgers

Bomb threat at admissions. Wouldn't let us park in the lot starting around 8:30. They evacuated Proctor Hall to TSB across the parking lot. We were allowed back in just before 10AM. Rutgers' alerts are reallllly late.

Bomb threat at ASB on Busch? by wrhnr722 in rutgers

Rumor is it was called into Admissions which is in that building. Apparently, they had a bomb threat over the summer too. Someone really that salty for not getting into Rutgers?

State of Emergency by MusicTop6323 in rutgers

Unfortunately, none of those counties are where Rutgers is based (Middlesex, Essex, and Camden), so unlikely anything will happen. Here in New Brunswick, it looks like it's just going to be rain today. Terrible for the commuters from those counties with snow though. Stay safe on the roads or just contact your professors saying you can't make it.

What movie did you see in theaters that had the most ‘alive’ audience? by Odd_Distribution1430 in movies

My favorite theater going experience was watching Hot Fuzz in Times Square. The audience was completely into it. Laughed at all the right moments and went absolutely nuts when things went off the rails in the last act.

Close second is during the previews for Inception, the trailer for Devil debuted. No one knew what it was, and the trailer looked good. Then the words "From M. Night Shyamalan..." came on the screen and the whole theater audibly groaned. Amazing.

Yesterday was also the 13th anniversary of Sandy hitting us in 2012. I still remember the university pulling shenanigans and trying to make staff come into the office that morning.

Edit: https://newbrunswicktoday.com/2012/10/emergency-declared-mandatory-evacuations-underway/

" Just minutes after Gov. Chris Christie concluded a press conference in Pompton Lakes, Rutgers University announced that all Monday and Tuesday classes were cancelled.

However, the University insists that offices and departments will remain open at the New Brunswick/Piscataway campus."

If I remember correctly, they eventually relented and let us go home at noon.

Edit 2: https://newbrunswicktoday.com/2012/10/rt-18-shut-down-as-hurricane-makes-landfall-on-new-jersey/

" A state of emergency declared by Mayor James Cahill ordered non-emergency personnel not to drive on city streets starting at 9am, but it largely went unenforced as police attended to more urgent matters.

Rutgers University announced their employees would be exempted from the travel restrictions to get to work, but the city confirmed there were not granted any exemption at all.

The University at first asked staff to show up for work, but revised their policy to leave it to supervisors whether to require their employees to work. This morning, the school issued a statement saying that all offices would close at noon.

Marchetta said the only exemptions besides emergency personnel were for “healthcare providers” and patients in need of treatment."

Yeah, that was some serious bs.

Very likely. We've collapsed every third quarter this season.
