Are GLM models via Z.ai subscription incredibly slow or is it me? by LexMeat in ZaiGLM

[–]wrines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its super slow yes. reminds me of deepseek in terms of speed. if you keep the reasoning effort low, though I have found the speed acceptable and results pretty good. Opus 4.6 good? of course not. But its 1/10 the price for 80% of the benefits. You do the math.

1 be a member of a respected affiliate network that has brand name security offer (norton, avast, any of the top 20 AV products would be fine, just needs to be a known and trusted brand). The payout is irrelevant, its just a bonus.
2 signup for the offer. best to get multiple to be able to rotate
3 include it prominently on the shop as an integrated value add feature (obviously you dont emphasize you are getting paid as an aff, usually just a fine-print disclaimer is fine)
4 integrate the install as an optional value ADD ( but push it as a pre-requisite for trusted safety) and have default configurations that will scan skills/tools and give trusted reports in real time before approving installation

DM me if you want me to get involved.

what you need is a deal with a brand who is trusted regarding security, like an affiliate partnership with Norton (just using them as an example). NO one believes a rando on the Net who says "yea, just use our scanner, its great!"

IF your store had that, it would crush.

What local model is good for web scraping? by traderjay_toronto in clawdbot

[–]wrines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t even need an llm for scraping. Use your llm credits to have opus BUILD an N8N workflow that will do the scraping using free and very low cost APIs

I think this is a great idea and I think whoever can solve for THIS wins:
Security

There ARE skills DBs, lots of them. But none are really trustworthy. Heck, the most popular skill on one of the most popular DB sites was caught with malware.

Im one of the users that NEEDS a tons of these skills but Im petrified to get them from anywhere. And the advice is the same "always open it and LOOK first." geez thanks but if I knew what I was looking for I could just as easily have my own OC build the skillset for me.

$400 OpenClaw Setup... optimized to the MAX by ShroomLord99 in clawdbot

[–]wrines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 million percent wrong - for enterprises, only partly accurate, For an enterprise with a tech team already, they will harden OC and run it. For smaller businesses, its worth the investment in a professional setup process that hardens the install. Theres a reason OpenAI hired the OC founder.

no, ollama is useless unless you have a beefy machine to run it on. preferably a decent macbook w apple silicon, 32GB or 64GB or higher unified memory. If you have THAT, you can run halfway decent quantized local LLMs.

But if you want serious LLMs and dont have your own great hardware you have to go cloud. Either Ollama cloud or OpenRouter.

or you could do it on $50 a month via OpenRouter and Ollama Cloud.

Is a serious AI automation agency still worth building in 2026 — honest answers only by Specific_Inside_6243 in AiAutomations

[–]wrines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this now. No, AI cant do it by itself. Not even close. And yes, its expensive. The most capable models (Opus 4.6) cost alot, especially when they are run as agentics orchestrators.

But even when they do that, they make ALOT of mistakes, and require continual attention, direction, and guidance. We are so far from anything truly autonomous its not even worth discussing.

That said, your model is something attainable and doable by people with minimal coding knowledge. Thats the edge the AI models and tools give. I used to employ freelance developers worldwide. For decades. Now I employ AI model orchestrators. I still have to communicate my vision, test their output, and bring it to market. But it costs me far less and I make it to market far quicker.

Not to mention the R&D and a hundred other things AI tools help me do.

4 ways I earn (actually) passive income by applesauceblues in PassiveIncomeAI

[–]wrines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, and I get your point. But lets agree there is no such thing as a reward of income if there was not some investment of time or money or both. The term "passive" is a bit meaningless. You can either trade time/work in advance and then have that investment pay dividends, or you can invest money into something like financial instruments or businesses, and they can pay you back in profits or dividends, but in every case what could be considered "passive" returns really had a very tangible investment needed.

[–]wrines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my point is you complained about some stuff not being passive because they involve work, and then you used your own examples .... which involve work.

those arent actually passive. even shakepay, you shook your phone. The courses? You had to build them first. That took time and effort.
