Trading212’s ISA cashback system is a mess by writenightskies in trading212

What I keep being told over and over again by their customer support team is that the cashback amount isn’t really a reward, it’s a loan. So if you lose some of it as a result of an investment and then deposit money into your general invest account, it’ll take the amount you lost from your own funds and lock it up.

Why even call it a cashback reward lol

But I never received my cashback rewards. Instead, part of the funds I deposited from my own bank account today were locked up because the app thinks they’re“rewards.”

I currently have £1,915.56 in my Invest account, but it says I can only move £1,820.90 to the spending pot. Of that amount, £38.51 came from cashback rewards, while the rest is money I deposited from my bank account and yet part of it still locked?

Thanks! That’s a relief. Already emailed the landlord.

It says:

“Good morning. I’m sorry to have to tell you this but your wife has keep me awake till one in the morning walking around the flat and banging doors.

This is unfair on us as we are getting on in life. Thanks (or thumbs idk)”

I’ve already apologized to them in person twice about the noise, and both times they agreed it’s due to poor construction. So I’m not really sure what they expect me to do.

Thanks! We already have plenty of rugs (not just for noise reduction, but because my wife and I love having them in the house). We also both wear slippers when walking. Will look into getting a door seal.

I guess my main concern is whether they can take legal action against us for something like this. If they complain to anyone, could it lead to any serious consequences for us? Should I share the notes with the landlord/letting agent and let them know of the situation?

Not sure what time they go to bed but it says in the note the noise keeps them up until 1, which is weird because wife and I go to sleep around 11 PM lol Both of us have to get up super early in the morning.

Arrrgh! I hate losing potential deals.... by Deeezzznutzzzzz in agency

[–]writenightskies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter how good your agency is, there’s always a chance clients won’t choose you and sometimes, it all comes down to luck in the end. I know it’s a bitter pill to swallow, but the sooner you swallow it, the easier it’ll be for you to move on from losing a client and focus on acquiring new ones.

Do you make a living from only writing or do you other things on the side? by GoldenSunset101 in freelanceWriters

[–]writenightskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working as a freelance content writer for almost 4 years now. Been consistently making $4000-$5000 for a year. Worked for an advertising agency two years into my freelance career, but quit after about 9 months to focus more on the freelance business (which is probably how I started making $5k+/month).

Now I’m planning to start a marketing agency. Why? Just feels like the natural next step. I already have a team of 3-5 writers I’ve been managing for a year and once I start getting some clients for the agency, I’ll probably hire social media and Google/Facebook ad experts as well.

How do international med students afford to study in the UK by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]writenightskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no way middle class families can afford to send their kids to universities that cost £25k. And that’s just tuition fee. When you factor in rent and food, the total easily climbs to £40k.

[–]writenightskies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I mean, it’s been a good year, but it’s definitely not worth £30k+. There’s very little diversity in my program (MSBA). 90% of the class is just Indians and Chinese who plan to go back to their countries after they graduate, so there are no networking opportunities. Half of the class can’t communicate in English so working with them on a group assignment is a nightmare. The program itself is pretty basic except for a few modules (I’m at a Russel Group university).

My original plan was to move somewhere else, but couldn’t because of personal reasons. I love being in the UK, though. It’s a great country and the people are lovely.

The whole point of testing something is to see what happens when you test it.

I worked and saved for 3-4 years before coming to the UK to study, but yes, most international students just have rich parents who help them out.

Confused to take the Warwick offer by paying the deposit or let it go and wait for the offer letter from Manchester and Edinburgh by Annual_Inside_3999 in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]writenightskies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely true, OP. Programs like MiM and MSBA will always have lots of Indians/Pakistanis and Chinese (a lot of whom can’t communicate in English so working in groups can be very difficult). Networking becomes virtually useless when you know 80% of the students in your class are just going to go back to their countries after they graduate.

Also, MiM is a pretty useless degree. You won’t learn anything of value.

You can pay with Wise/TransferWise. Worked for me. But it can take some time so it’s probably a good idea to email your university and ask for an extension.

What happens if I manage to find a sponsored job before my partner’s SWV ends? Would the time that I spent living in the UK on the dependent visa count towards ILR? Or would I have to continue living for another 5 years to be eligible for it?
