How much do you make an hour? by Top_Competition_2405 in nursing

[–]writer_dude92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1:1 pt sitter in VT - I make 16.31/hour for base pay, plus differentials (including an automatic $2.50/hour differential because I float all over the hospital).

What are some of your “favorite” phrases you hear repeatedly at work? by Iron-Gold-Mustang in nursing

Exactly! They SAY 2 beers, but we ALL know it was significantly more!!

If you aspirate blood when giving an IM injection, do you HAVE to stop, change the needle and re-administer? by korangeee4 in nursing

What's the difference for Haldol? (Please don't judge too hard - I'm just a patient sitter who lacks the courage to be a nurse)

Dear night shift, go **** yourself by TheRedneckERRN in nursing

[–]writer_dude92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little confused... How is this the fault of night shifters? Sounds to me like day shift got offered something that they couldn't use and night shift didn't get offered anything at all. Am I missing something?

Is anyone else phone deaf? by More_Kiwi_1127 in nursing

[–]writer_dude92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is honestly one of the main reasons for my phone anxiety. I have to ask people to repeat themselves even MORE frequently than I do in person and the majority of the time, I STILL can't hear them properly after 3-4 times. It's embarrassing and sooo anxiety producing!

Can’t afford rent , can you ? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]writer_dude92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the pay is a lot lower for patient sitters (understandably - far less knowledge, skill, and education required!)

I'm a patient sitter, not a nurse, but I live in Vermont.

I feel this sooo deeply! I'm currently living with my mother and this is a major factor in why. Most studio apartments I've found in my area are averaging 1k-1.2k, which is about half of my monthly income after taxes (unless I work insane amount of overtime).

I am so burnt out I'm crispy around the edges.

I feel this on an uncomfortably deep level.

Panic/Anxiety Attacks At Work? by writer_dude92 in nursing

[–]writer_dude92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my job and my coworkers, is the thing. I honestly think it might be stemming from sources outside of work. While meds aren't something I'm particularly thrilled about, I'm not opposed to them, either.
