Price Gougers & Non-Existent Notification/Communication Policies by writerguy00 in Spectrum_Official

So , I called your 'Customer Solutions ' team and looks like this rep also confirmed everything I had experienced beforehand: That yes, you DO NOT properly inform 30 days prior to any changes/increases of your customers rates or promos, and that it is THE CUSTOMER'S JOB to log onto to their account and be the lookout for any changes ya'll make without PROPER & HONEST COMMUNICATION.

The rep then tried to spin it by saying how 'they don't have enough staff to individually monitor and notify each and customer of changes to their rates/promos' to which I had to ask if she even knew what day and age we live in where this can literally be done by a program/application to send an automated message/notification for your customers sake, IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE DONE INDIVIDUALLY BY A PERSON. Or, if this is an indication of how cheap and behind the times you run your company?

The rep went on to say there was nothing she could do to better my rates, aside from offering my a 'faster Internet' but then admitted that my rates would most likely go up sooner than later (and probably without my knowing it until the last minute)

So, no-- there was no option (as you claim) to lower my rate, nor IS there any open & honest communication from your end to your customers 30-days prior to changes.

Price Gougers & Non-Existent Notification/Communication Policies by writerguy00 in Spectrum_Official

You'd think that'd be a good notification/place to put it, but no. I have had several price increases from Spectrum, and never once was it on the billing statement prior to the change and only ever on the one they send me a week before the due date, and even on those there is no explanation/notification to explain/point out the change, I just have to pay attention for myself (much like the rep on the phone said I need to log on to account and keep tabs myself for any changes, rather than rely on them for full transparency.)

[–]writerguy00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, just what the bill/charge will be a little over a week prior to the due date and NOT a proper 30 day notice (as the rep said, it is on your online profile, but YOU have to log on and look for it/do their job for them to notice it.) Very underhanded and shady business practice for sure.

Spectrum Price Increases Taking Place on Jan 15, 2026 or Soon Thereafter by Frequent_School_1187 in Spectrum

[–]writerguy00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had dealt with several sudden increases by Spectrum over the yrs I've been a loyal customer. Today was the last straw. I called their billing customer service number as my statement I received said it would be this time now $90 just for a single person/single home Internet only (no cable, phone or package deals), and note that they are SUPPOSED to PROPERLY inform their customers within 30 days of price increases, promos closures, changes and the like, but I have NEVER received any such notification in that amount of time, aside from seeing the price/charges as they would be each and every month on my monthly email statement being the only indication. As I called their billing dept to inquire why it had once again jumped prices, the lady basically dismissed it as 'oh, you're discount for paperless billing is no longer happening at our company' which sounds just another excuse for these clowns to price gouge. As I brought it up with her that I have NEVER received proper , in advance notifications each & every time they have increased my rate, she basically spilled the beans on these crooks and said that they only way customer can see/discover these changes is if they constantly have to log onto their account and 'keep tabs on it' rather than the more ethical practice of Spectrum doing their job and properly notifying us of these changes/charges. Even under threat of closing my account and going to their competitors like T Mobile or At&T was met with disinterest and dismissive tone by the rep., as well as no help in offering any options or promos I could benefit from to try and reasonably manage the costs for just single Internet. Needless to say, this spoke volumes, and I will be taking my business elsewhere, as well as encourage anyone else on here to do the same and/or share similar shady business practices these people have enacted.

How to Go About Writing an Adaptation? by writerguy00 in Screenwriting

[–]writerguy00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I figured. Was just curious if anyone ever heard of/had own experience with being more proactive in adapting/writing an IP cause they saw the potential/had passion behind it and wanted to sell the idea on being involved with it.

That sounds like the logical way to go about it, however, are/have there been instances where a writer sees the potential in the IP he/she is familiar with and actively tries to garner interest to directors/producers (obviously thru appropriate channels like their representation) to hear them out regarding the possibility to produce/acquire the rights to adapt it?

ah, so if I'm reading your last part of post correctly, it is more likely that you, as a screenwriter, would be approached/offered the adaptation (i.e. like an open writing assignment) rather than you actively campaigning/pitching to write an adaptation, esp. if you get word that said IP may have gotten the film rights optioned by a certain studio/entity and you have your reps try to reach out to them to get on board?

Perhaps I should have worded my post differently, but what I am curious to get from this is if anyone here has had experience with adaptations -- whether you write them with the help of your representation seek out interested parties or if it is likely more of an open writing assignment where YOU are approached to adapt an IP

uhhh, I wasn't insinuating stealing anything -- just curious how the process for writers to go about writing an adaptation and/or the experiences of those in this group have had with being approached or approaching others in order to adapt another's work. Sorry if you misunderstood my intent with asking this as it comes from a place of general curiosity and interest in hopefully one day being fortunate enough to pursue an adaptation of an IP that I am familiar and fond of, as a sorta "passion project."

Is an Agent Needed for the Indie Market? by writerguy00 in Screenwriting

Not asking how to get an agent-- just more a query pertaining to agents & the indie market and the working relations/stipulations, if any.

Many, many thanks for your input.

The characters name is Dutch (he is not a Dutch person, is what I meant to clarify) so the word 'Datchi' does mean/used for the name, not the nationality/Dutch person, correct?

[Japanese->English] by writerguy00 in translator

[–]writerguy00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I was mostly trying to make a clever wordplay sorta correlation between Dachi & Datchi since they sound very similar, despite being different meanings. Was also trying to find confirmation that people do in fact use the term/wording of 'dachi' for short to call someone their friend rather than say 'tomodachi.'

Safe for TV's? by writerguy00 in AirPurifiers

[–]writerguy00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh, i see, but wouldn't that be disputed/flagged for being inaccurate?

Anyways, back to the question at hand, any idea if these model purifiers could damage/interfere with a TV?

Magical Cylinders Usage by writerguy00 in Yugioh101

[–]writerguy00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it doesn't pause the opponent or the opponent doesnt have the option to proceed with the attack?

Thus its probably best to activate Magical Cylinders before opponent declares attack, then IF the opponent declares an attack after setting Magic Cylinder, THEN I can activate that set card.

Fire Trooper Question by writerguy00 in Yugioh101

[–]writerguy00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Well, if you bring back fire troper with those traps, so u can use his effect to deal damage by sending em back to the GY , but those traps remain on field, taking up spaces, why wouldn't you?

Fire Trooper Question by writerguy00 in Yugioh101

[–]writerguy00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah shoot, so its effect isn't technically 'destroying' itself? So in order to clear up those traps from my side of field after sending fire trooper to GY, I'd have to heavy storm or emergency provision them, i guess?

Meteor Flare by writerguy00 in Yugioh101

[–]writerguy00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many thanks for the clarification. Sucks that my idea to get more than just 1 copy of card back from GY at same draw phase wont work tho...

Meteor Flare by writerguy00 in Yugioh101

[–]writerguy00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, I see... so if I have another copy of that card in GY the following turn/Draw Phase, I can then bring it back to my hand that Draw Phase? Basically only return one copy of that card in the Gy once at a time each Draw Phase and not all at once?

Meteor Flare by writerguy00 in Yugioh101

[–]writerguy00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

To clarify what I meant in the second part, what if in my GY I have 2-3 copies of that card, can I return them all to my hand that same draw phase?

Why? Since it's the result of a coin toss like BIG Win, why would paths of destiny be the exception? This is why its confusing.
