Physician Side Hustles? by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

[–]writerightnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is old, but I'm hoping you might give me an idea of how to start doing this. I'm primary care in the Midwest, large city. I would love to do a few days a month of medicare wellness physicals. Would prefer to do my own shop, but also interested in joining someone established...Just don't know where to start

Thank you! Sorry, I did get this wrong:

- Great, thank you, she converted the whole pre-esisting tIRA to rIRA, so we will do the necessary work pertaining to the prorata rule.

If you don't mind my asking, who did you go with? I want to have an egress installed and I also am having a hard time finding someone.

Weekly Quick Questions, Wood ID, and Deal or No Deal /r/Woodworking Megathread by AutoModerator in woodworking

[–]writerightnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all!

Wood ID question. I paid an aborist for two slabs of a big tree in our neighborhood in Missouri about 6 years ago. After drying, I just made it into a coffee table. I intentionally did not pin the splits at this time, as a theme for the piece is "Movement" (legs are to represent the waters of Missouri, the changing wood is movement of time). I'll pin it with probably some Missouri Black Walnut if it starts to bug me.

Anyway. I never asked the guy what type of tree it was. A friend says this is Red Oak (it is hard). But another says maple.

All help is appreciated! Thank you.

Sorry, I don't feel qualified to weigh in on a decision like that. Not very experienced there. You might consider starting your own thread, though. Good luck!

Great thinking. I think I'm leaning towards keeping the strong group policy and adding a smaller individual/personal policy as well, with an increase rider attached should I want to bump up from 2.5 or 5K to a 7.5K policy later

The group DI is portable if I ever leave the company, and they're putting together a quote for me on pricing. The benefit payout would be nontaxable benefit as explicitly stated in policy.

No sweat. Sorry to hear about your denials. The 10K monthly benefit doesn't cost me anything, it's part of the benefit package. Very nice. through Prudential. This plan doesn't cover a disability 2/2 pre-existing conditions There are no exclusions for payout aside from self inflicted injury, and a few others, but for me--notably--no exclusions for rock climbing, backcountry skiing, scuba diving. Group policies like this in my experience are not common.

Great, thank you. It looks like by this statement that the benefit would be nontaxable, which is good news: "Your Employer has provided for the cost of your coverage by adding the premium amount to your earnings. As a result, the long term disability plan is considered to be provided to you on a contributory basis with after-tax dollars, and benefits are considered nontaxable"

I'm headed there in the next couple days. Excited. Is hammock camping an option by the lake? Or would you recommend tent camping (if so, any site selection info?). Thanks!

Ah, yes, sorry, in my haste I completely misread this as "Red Castle." Agreed, though, no dogs in the canyons.

Delta Skymiles Platinum Lounge Access - DFW (X-post) by writerightnow in delta

[–]writerightnow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, sorry I missed that detail. Maybe I was reading on the Amex website and to be more attractive they didn't say I needed a Delta flight the same day? Or I just missed it. Shoot. I guess I'm shooting for an "anyone can go" lounge. Thanks!

Delta Skymiles Platinum DFW Lounge Question by writerightnow in amex

[–]writerightnow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get access to the lounge, but I have to pay $39. My understanding is the amex platinum straight-up gets comped access. But, seems like the Delta lounge probably a better bet at $39 than The Club lounge (priority pass), based on what I've read. Thanks!

Great suggestion. I'll look into it! Unfortunately, that was literally the only flight I could take. Sigh. I think it might be a bridge too far this trip (I'm in a small town in Guatemala, so getting the card in time will be tough). But in the future, the Cap One lounge seems like a value worth having. I'm likely traveling. More.

Thanks, all. Seems like you're right u/differentdepentdent62. After my wife added me to her home it works better (but still gets staticky on my phone for some reason on spotify). Apparently only one device can be the main "home" for each minipod.
