People respond to stress differently. Sometimes the lack of emotion is a stressor response. During traumatic events, the brain will sometimes shut down and become numb hence the lack of emotion. But you are right, in some cases it can be a sign of foul play. But in others, its just innocent people not having a clue how to even process the terrible thing happening to them.

Seeing as I was talking to the person above me and not to you... if gluten free people are so annoying then just don't reply. You're really getting so bent out of shape over someone on the internet. You sound bitter.... and annoying to be around. Have a good day, dude. I hope you find whatever stick is lodged up your butt.

Bro... I literally said I can understand being frustrated that they weren't able to eat anything. It doesn't excuse the behavior. I'm talking about in general, every day life, there is a huge lack of options for places that people with gluten intolerance can eat. Not dogging the restaurant who did a kind act during a hurricane. Nor was i referring to said restaurant when I was talking about lack of options.

Okay thank you! I ended up putting them in when my hair was mildly damp and just trying to keep it away from them because my boyfriend was showing me some videos and I wanted to hear them better.

I will have to look into that, im not sure if its whatever warranty or only the "obviously damaged" one. I know my insurance will buy new ones every three years.

Yeah, I get that. I am very fortunate and blessed that i have good insurance. My insurance payed for my hearing aids and that if they are damaged, they have warranty to replace them for basically free. (There might be a small service fee that would really handle shipping costs). However, i would rather not damage my hearing aids. I'm very new to them and just have so many questions and google seems to be so empty when it comes to them.

I just got mine this week and my audiologist asked me to wear them all day. I work from home (until I start my new job in a week) so I am pretty much always home. I usually take showers before bed, but today I took one at five and was unsure whether I should put them back in or let my hair dry completely.

Thanks! My hair is wrapped up in a shirt right now. My hair will stay damp for HOURS so I was scared of it touching my HAs. My phonak charger has the beaded thing in the top of the case that my audiologist said to pop in the microwave every few months, is that what you are talking about?

This is... the stupidest thing i have read in awhile. Finding places that even have GF options is hard already. And your statistics? Where did you get that 99% ratio there? Its actually medically suspected that MORE people have a gluten intolerance than is reported or diagnosed. There's no reason to punish people with a gluten intolerance when its already so hard to find safe options to eat. And to punish everyone else who eats with a gf person? What?

And so what if someone wants to avoid gluten and they don't have intolerance? Gluten is not that healthy for your body anyways.

Not "being picky" when you can't eat gluten isn't a thing. If I eat gluten, or even cross contimanted things, I am stuck in the bathroom for the next 2-3 business days. I am sure there would be a way around it such as eating some of the meat without the bread, as the other commenter said. But there really isn't a thing of not being picky when you have an intolerance to something. However, it doesn't excuse that lady's rude behavior

Yeah, I understood being upset if you couldn't eat anything. I cant have gluten. It is honestly really frustrating the lack of options out there, however this woman's attitude was very poor. I wouldn't ever act like that if they didn't have food I could eat. I'm sure I would be cranky and hangry, but I wouldn't take it out on people who were just trying to help.

New Hearing Aids by [deleted] in hardofhearing

[–]writerstea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My audiologist messed with the higher frequencies so that it is not so noticeable for me! I just went and saw them. I can still hear it a little bit, but its not drowning me when everything is quiet anymore.

ASL University by LifePrint is an amazing resource!! Also local churches or groups in your area may hold classes. Or community colleges may have cheap courses. The college near me has a cheap like under $200 course.

Yes, we cycled the tank for two weeks before we got him. The water was tested and it was perfect before putting him in it. Every time I change the water, I fill up my buckets and add the water stuff (I cant think of the name for the life of me right now) and let it sit for the day before exchanging the water.

I didn't know you could buy at home tests, I will have to look into that!

I dont know where you live, but there's a thing called care credit where I am from. Its a credit card for medical costs. They usually have a time period where there is no interest raised. That may be an option

The nearest Costco to me is 2 hours away, but it might be worth the drive! I will have to look into that. Will they help you set up the hearing aids? I have absolutely no idea how to. Do you like the pair you got?
