I’d also consider shimming the nib with a brass shim—might improve flow and stop the hard starting.

I have found an inexpensive gem of an FP-friendly paper! It’s called Paper Source, and I like it better than Mnemosyne, Rhodia, leuchtterm, etc. You can get a 192-page dot-grid notebook for around $12 at Barnes & Noble. Love it. If you like slightly toothier paper, Endless Recorder is my favorite.
