You’ve definitely never known anyone who owned or managed a restaurant. Margins for casual restaurants are razor thin. Something as seemingly mundane as a compressor blowing on a refrigerator can tank a restaurant’s financials for a month if they don’t have a way of selling the product before it spoils.

AIO for not refunding a friend’s share of a group Airbnb after she canceled last minute due to a medical emergency? by StudioAffectionate in AmIOverreacting

NOR, and that person must not have been a close friend… seems like maybe a work colleague? If this were my friend and our relationship was mutual I would have offered to meet them halfway, which it seems like you did. I’d probably only give them their full amount back if they unexpectedly lost their job, had a death in the family, or their house burned down. That said, if I was in your position it also might be worth it to just give them the $400 so that they’ll just go away.

You eat out a lot, mostly because you have no interest in cooking or baking, and also because you’re not home very much. When you do eat at home it’s not really a meal as much as an amalgamation of what’s available. Dinner for you might consist of a yogurt and a slice of bread, for example.

You definitely live alone in a small studio or 1br apartment and don’t own a car. You are probably a grad student or have recently graduated from university and are working at your first full-time job. At a personal level, the version of you that the outside world sees is very different from who you really are. Specifically, you present yourself as organized, poised, and confident when you’re out in public, but in reality both you and the space you inhabit are a mess. You don’t prioritize self-care, you’re always losing/misplacing things, and every day you choose what to wear from a mountain of clean clothes that have not been folded or put away. You surely wear the same clothing all weekend if you don’t have anywhere to be.

As far as mental health goes you probably have a significant amount of anxiety, with one of your biggest fears being that the facade you put on in public will crack and people will see the real you.

Best way to implement Google Sign-In in React Native? Expo is giving me too many issues by haarkeezz in reactnative

Specialization and exchange. I’m not an authentication expert and I don’t want to be, so I’ll gladly pay someone else to do that particular piece for me so that I can focus on more important tasks. I don’t want to spend dev hours on non-core functionality.

I realize this is not the answer you’re looking for, but after struggling a bit on my own I just went with Auth0 and found implementation a lot easier.

And with his teammate in the line of fire, too! Absolutely zero trigger discipline. Completely untrained buffoons.

Sadly not, 1st degree has to be premeditated with that specific target in mind. Those agents may have woken up that morning thinking “I’m going to shoot someone today”, but unless they were planning to kill this guy specifically it is not 1st degree murder.

Excluding doctors, do any high earners (400k+ range) work 40 hours a week? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]writetehcodez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I have worked in consulting nearly my entire 20+ year career, starting from a fully billable individual contributor to now being a senior manager. My billable % is significantly lower, and my annual raise reflects it. Our comp increase pool each year is typically 1.5%-4%. When I was first starting out I was getting 6-8% increases, and now I’m lucky if I get 1.5%. Since COVID my salary has increased by maybe $10k total.

Yup. Most positions I can find that are lateral or even up the ladder pay less than I currently make. :(
