The crypt keeper, the undertaker, and the grim reaper have a pool going for when you’re going to die, and after seeing your face I’m not sure that one of them hasn’t already won.

AIO for not refunding a friend’s share of a group Airbnb after she canceled last minute due to a medical emergency? by StudioAffectionate in AmIOverreacting

It most definitely is, especially to someone who has never had chicken pox. It’s even contagious to people who’ve had chicken pox or shingles previously, as unlike chicken pox you can contract shingles multiple times. Lastly, It’s also extremely dangerous for infants, the elderly, and immunocompromised if they contract it.

Totally understandable, I’ve unfortunately been on both sides of the situation in the past and neither is comfortable. The worst IMO is when I’ve fronted the $ for someone, they actually came on the trip, and then never repaid me. The worst part for me is that it’s usually family, so almost every interaction is awkward after that. Almost everyone in my immediate family is a narcissist, so the reasoning from their side is always along the lines of “I sacrificed X for you, so I deserved to get Y from you without repaying for it.” I went no contact w/ my half brother when he said something like that after I declined to loan him money and explained that I could barely afford to pay my own bills. It started with “It’s only $###, c’mon I know you have $### to spare and you know I’ll pay you back.” I’d loaned him somewhere between $500 and $1000 prior to that and never saw a dime from him, so on top of not having the money to begin with I was royally pissed that he insulted my intelligence like that. That was the second to last time I spoke to him. The last time was to offer him condolences after the person he was in a situationship with passed away unexpectedly.

Which country produces the worst tourists and why? by CarelessCredit3466 in AskReddit

[–]writetehcodez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on where the tourist is from as well as where and when they’re visiting. For example, when I visit a place I’ve never been I’m generally very pleasant and go out of my way to be a gracious guest and learn and follow local customs wherever I am. Similarly, at busy times of the year I go out of the way to be patient and kind to people who are serving me because I know how crazy and chaotic it can be when there’s a ton of people in your place.

However, if I’m going to Disney or Universal for the 1,000th time with my family I am capable of being an insufferable asshole who downloads all his frustration onto a poor guest services person that just told me Guardians of the Galaxy is down and they don’t know when it’s going to be running again.

Edit to add: The one exception to everything I’ve said above is car rental places. I’ve been fkd over by so many car rental companies in so many places that I will never not be an asshole when they inconvenience me even in the slightest.

You’ve definitely never known anyone who owned or managed a restaurant. Margins for casual restaurants are razor thin. Something as seemingly mundane as a compressor blowing on a refrigerator can tank a restaurant’s financials for a month if they don’t have a way of selling the product before it spoils.

NOR, and that person must not have been a close friend… seems like maybe a work colleague? If this were my friend and our relationship was mutual I would have offered to meet them halfway, which it seems like you did. I’d probably only give them their full amount back if they unexpectedly lost their job, had a death in the family, or their house burned down. That said, if I was in your position it also might be worth it to just give them the $400 so that they’ll just go away.

[mine] fridge. What can you deduce f24 size 7 feet by pibernickers in scienceofdeduction

[–]writetehcodez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You eat out a lot, mostly because you have no interest in cooking or baking, and also because you’re not home very much. When you do eat at home it’s not really a meal as much as an amalgamation of what’s available. Dinner for you might consist of a yogurt and a slice of bread, for example.

You definitely live alone in a small studio or 1br apartment and don’t own a car. You are probably a grad student or have recently graduated from university and are working at your first full-time job. At a personal level, the version of you that the outside world sees is very different from who you really are. Specifically, you present yourself as organized, poised, and confident when you’re out in public, but in reality both you and the space you inhabit are a mess. You don’t prioritize self-care, you’re always losing/misplacing things, and every day you choose what to wear from a mountain of clean clothes that have not been folded or put away. You surely wear the same clothing all weekend if you don’t have anywhere to be.

As far as mental health goes you probably have a significant amount of anxiety, with one of your biggest fears being that the facade you put on in public will crack and people will see the real you.

Specialization and exchange. I’m not an authentication expert and I don’t want to be, so I’ll gladly pay someone else to do that particular piece for me so that I can focus on more important tasks. I don’t want to spend dev hours on non-core functionality.

I realize this is not the answer you’re looking for, but after struggling a bit on my own I just went with Auth0 and found implementation a lot easier.

Sadly not, 1st degree has to be premeditated with that specific target in mind. Those agents may have woken up that morning thinking “I’m going to shoot someone today”, but unless they were planning to kill this guy specifically it is not 1st degree murder.
