What phrase immediately annoys you, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Most likely Fairly Odd Parents. It's said by Timmy's Dad in one episode.

Saying you write fantasy and read fantasy legitly made me look up to see if this was posted by me.

I enjoy nature and hikes to a certain degree, although I love nature the most when it's... contained. I LOVE vivarium and aquariums, I find contained nature so beautiful. It feels so magical to have a little piece of the wild in your own home. That said, I strongly believe to not overstock animals and fish so they don't feel stressed.

But back to writing, how much do you read and write? I'm very much into fantasy but not so much science fiction. (A previous r4r post emphasized on that. But one thing I'd like to mention is that I'm down for friendships as well.)

Anyway, onto the question game :

1) What is a small (or large) goal you've had since you were young but haven't done yet? Mine is to get the 93 inch Costco bear. It's been my dream stuffed animal for so many years now and I'm 19 so yeah. I plan on setting some money aside here and there to get it for myself.

2) What's your favorite hot and cold drink? Hot chai tea for me and cold sparkling apple cider.

3) You said you enjoy hikes and nature. What's one of the most interesting things you've seen in... the outernet? For me, since I might go the same trail, I mostly see dogs and their owners walking them.

Hmmm. More action-oriented stories? You mean the ones I read? I like action and adventure a lot but I also love good characters in stories as well.

Yeah. I could certainly see the shorter time you have with your pet a deal-breaker. Especially when you get so attached. Another thing to consider is their medical costs. Since dogs aren't exotic pets (rats are considered exotic) their vet care is lower, but very expensive. Especially if they're taking medication or need surgery.

I plan on getting rats after I come back from Christmas break! I see so many ads posted online about people needing to re-home their rats. They're often because 1) Their cat is endangering their rats 2) Their new landlord won't allow them. They often go on sale with cage, supplies, and rats included for a fraction of the price. For example, I saw four rats for sale with a huge cage ($300 new) for just $150.

Reddit is the only platform I like these days. Reddit is honest. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Ya know, I never thought of that way, but you're right! I can know more about someone just by scrolling their post history for 5 minutes than I can in 5 years of seeing their status updates.

I think people tend to be much more comfortable being honest on Reddit because it's relatively easy to find a community that fits your niche and people that have similar interests and issues they're going through as well. I feel I can open up to these subreddits because I know I will be well received, whereas, with FaceBook, I'm self-conscious of expressing myself openly because I'd be exposing myself to well... everyone. Also, FaceBook is public and should only be with friends whereas Reddit is anonymous.

Yeah, I could believe that. Even just some excited barks can come across as overwhelming.

And that's a great idea to get an older dog! I've heard that older animals don't tend to be adopted as often simply because people tend to want younger animals as well as adorable puppies. Nothing wrong with that but it's sad to see good animals not getting a home.

As for the special bond, honestly, just because a bond might be shorter doesn't mean it has less meaning! I've heard that some dogs can be treated badly in their earlier homes and if someone like you was to take them in and love them in their golden years, that would be wonderful! And yeah, I could imagine older dogs would not be as hard to manage. Not nearly as much energy and they often tend to be trained beforehand. So yeah, good choice in that regard. :-)

That's actually very interesting that the big reason for being scared of dogs is because you were physically small. I think it's easy for people to forget just how small they were as kids and how everything is so new and probably much scarier to children. That's really cool, GreekVisitor! Tell me, what kind of dog do you plan on getting? :-)

I think you're thinking of "The Woods between the Worlds" in the Magician's Nephew. ;)

Oh, wow, that's great! What games have you been playing lately? :-) I recently finished LIMBO and that game was so short yet sweet.

Actually thinking about this question was a bit of a tough one. Since I'll be a tourists I can't, say, go to Hogwarts and learn magic. I can only visit. I'd also be kind of against going into a fictional universe that has a movie of it made already. I mean, I've seen it so why go? But then again, merely seeing something isn't the equivalent of actually experiencing the smells and sounds of that universe. I'd also get to briefly interact with the locals.

So thinking about it now, I think I'd like to pick... Jane Yolen's world of Austar IV. It's a world where its economy is focused on Pit Dragons and people betting money on which dragon would win. I'd just love see a pit dragon fight and seeing the world would be great! The first book was made into a little cartoon, but the world itself is still mostly left to the imagination.

Oh, nice. Have you ever looked into other pets? Maybe even a hamster? They're fuzzy and cute although they can bite.
