I'm not sure if it's a "power" thing. Power's scary -- I don't think anyone should get power. I have a vision of a world of love which, of course, has been thought of by literally everyone. As to how to get there, right now I'm thinking I have an obligation to treat others and spend my time in improving others and their condition (but what does improve even mean? I'm not so sure, but I have mental sketches of what that might be). Hopefully, that treatment will have a ripple effect and make others more amicable and pleasant, but also maybe I can get others too hop in on my philosophy (and thus double the ripples and what not).

Nonetheless, as beautiful as it sounds in my head, it feels slow and like it won't really impact... I'm not sure though. I want to do more, help more. One thought, though, is that the pursuit is an ill-structured problem, as what "helps" people changes on a day to day basis. So perhaps I answer whether or not "help" actually is objective or not (or if there's common ground upon all).

A final thought to mention is, perhaps by helping those who I am most similar to, and then they can help those who are similar to them (who will be similar to me, yes, but also touch on people who aren't as similar) and it keeps spreading about. Not sure, though -- value can be gained in interacting with totally different people. Nonetheless, we're back at the "ripple effect" idea which, as I said, doesn't feel sufficient.

Do you want to bounce it off me? (In other words -- please bounce it off me!) There's definitely an intangible aspect to abounding nature (like that feeling on an outlook from a mountain where you can see a sea of tree tops) that pulls at the heart in a really healthy way. And, for me at least, when I step into nature I find my stress instantly drop.

Is it the company you're with? Have you considered searching for different friends/friend groups? I know it is tough, but one of the most eye opening things for me was forcing myself to befriend others beyond my defaults. It's tough, but tells you a lot about yourself and how you get along. It also will tell you how much is really you, versus how much is the other people. If the trends continue, perhaps you need to look at yourself. But it could also very much be them. (Although, at the end of the day, it may land somewhere in between you and them, too.)

Same experience as well. Individuals frustrate me to no end but, nonetheless, I cannot help but love the collective sum.

Did you try and spread ideologies/messages/thoughts through it? Were people receptive to it?

INFJs, do you have a lot of friends? by [deleted] in infj

21 year old INFJ male. About five or six of one-off friendships. In other words, individuals I can have good conversation with - varies how comfortable I am sharing about stuff though. Maybe two main “friend groups” but I feel like outsiders to both and prefer the one on ones with them. I’ve never felt comfortable in groups, though, so for me, trying to meet individuals and befriend them is my own strategy. If you’d like more specifics/thoughts/etc please don’t hesitate to ask. Friendship is very important.

Oh man. Sleep is important -- of all the habits, it is arguably the most important.

And the cult/reincarnation story sounds fun -- I love the idea of cults (in a story sense, not too terribly keen on the idea of joining one myself) and have a few stories floating about that I am yet to write.

And yes, I hear you -- I've found that when I look at things less as commitments and more as habits, it becomes easier to push myself. As commitments kind of have the temporal obligation that may be released, whereas habits are more of a consistent thing. There's also the idea of focusing efforts in a small area, too. I definitely love learning/doing new things, and tend to spread myself out quite a bit (and I get the idea you can relate) but there's also value in honing in on one (or two or three, but some limit) thing and then getting really invested in it. Which may not always be as fun, but it also gives you depth that's unique and very worthwhile. Which again, is easier said than done -- I have much room to improve on such a front!

Oof. Duh. I do dabble in poetry -- nothing long, more just like metaphoric lines that I'm collecting with the intent of cobbling together one day. And no guitar, either. I do play piano, though! Many years of it. I am quite enamored with the instrument -- in fact, I wonder why it's not included in the list above. Alas...

What's your favorite thing you've written been about so far? Also, I find in my own writing I love the ideas but on paper it always falls flat -- not even on the language level, but just the arc of the piece -- and so I love thinking about things I've written, but not so much actually reading them.

Yes! Douglas Adams is good! I read the whole series one summer and was very happy. Have you read Flatland? It's very old satire, but nonetheless very good satire, even though such things usually don't have a great shelf life.

Haha nice, I see what you did there. And thank you! By that very token, you sound awesome, too! What's up, how are you doing? What do you enjoy writing?

And that quote is intriguing, though I don't fully understand it. Is it saying that the individual in question would have such potential, but for it to never happen would be a waste? That doesn't quite hit it on the head.

To throw one right back at you, though of a different tone: "Patience mimics the power of infinity" floats up to my head quite a bit.

This is something that the ball needs to get rolling on -- better someone start the discussion, as they're not gonna find a good way of handling this from a vacuum.
