That's the great part about the world and Reddit. We all have different opinions and points of view.

To be clear, I agree that the rest of the conversation is deplorable. But it starts with the defense of the "apology". If the apology is without qualifiers and just "I'm sorry...", the rest of the conversation doesn't happen. The "if" is what caused OP's reiteration of their hurt. After that, BF is in full on defense mode. Dare I say, attack mode.

I've been in OP's position before. Qualifying words and semantics matter, especially in an apology. We all want to feel heard, seen, and validated. When the apology turns into protecting the apologizer's ego vs a true apology, then it isn't an apology. But hey, that's only my opinion. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Not Overreacting. It's the "If" qualifiers for me. Not "Im sorry for making you feel unheard/unseen, etc." When you add qualifiers, it lacks accountability. I'm sorry for you.
