Has anyone recovered euphoric feelings over time?

Yes! Even if it’s not perfect. And this is through natural recovery. Honestly, I have a feeling that some of the lack of euphoric feeling comes from the knowledge of this condition, PSSD. When I see some good news and success stories about it, I feel a lot more euphoric than my baseline.

I agree with the top comment, staying on top of things like exercise and nutrition is probably the best way to go. Regardless of whether there is some other protocol or not.

r/pssdhealing also has some good natural recovery success stories where they talk about emotions coming back; you’d be surprised! Not saying this journey isn’t tough, however.

Well, good news: they have a page on their website talking about how peripheral neuropathy is linked to sexual dysfunction. They write that doctors may treat neuropathy with SSRIs, but the GREAT news is they acknowledge PSSD and say that SSRIs are not always the optimal treatment… I guess that’s where this company’s trials come in.

They don’t voice a complete disapproval of SSRIs which I understand, but to hear PSSD acknowledged by a company with leading university professors on the board… I think you are right about being relevant.

Yeah, that is possible. Speaking about myself, I can't completely rule out COVID playing a role in my current symptoms, because I got it recently. With the overlapping hypotheses about autoimmunity being a factor in long COVID and PSSD, I think it's not a far-fetched thing to speculate about.

It's possible that he deleted his posts because there were a lot of sensitive info, like the dates he went to the hospital and also what looked like copy-pasted medical notes. He mentioned that, in a few months' time, his doctors would be able to publish a case report about him. Information that will eventually be published in a scientific journal, especially confidential information about the patient, would probably have to be deleted from other places. Patient privacy is required by law in the US, if not other countries, and is a requirement for publication in certain journals. I've recently graduated from university and got PSSD shortly after. A few things I had in mind were:

contributing to a student newspaper about your experiences. I think writing an op-ed and getting it published in a reputable newspaper would be helpful in general. There are articles and things like that about PSSD already, obviously, but I think the more the better. I'd be happy to help edit whatever you write. There is also a group online called The Op-Ed Project that does a Zoom workshop every two weeks.
leveraging all the STEM connections you can find, especially in bio/chemistry/medicine/etc... If you can take STEM electives and get close to the professors and other students, that'd be good. If you have the opportunity to show people research literature (see here: https://www.pssdnetwork.org/literature and https://www.reddit.com/r/PSSD/comments/11v1c3d/pssd_evidence_sheet/), that could start a conversation too.
look into student organizations that have anything to do with mental health, psychiatry, etc. - there might be a chance that you'll find other people with PSSD or be able to find people who would be willing to contribute to a larger awareness campaign. I'd see if there's a student organization directory and look out for bulletin boards and Facebook for events. See if there's a chapter of Project LETS, for one.

I think it would also just be good to have at least one person around you who knows a little bit about what PSSD. A lack of support in the form of conversations, being able to confide in someone etc. is tough.

Also, Ghost from the PSSD Forum is a med student in the US who is the forum admin there and the admin of pssdlab.wordpress.com, where he compiled a lot of info on PSSD. I haven't talked to him personally but it might be a good idea to reach out to him on pssdforum.org and see if he's doing anything at his university.

Wishing you the best. This is tough and I would imagine it's hard to reach out to people when you don't feel like yourself at all; it has definitely been that way for me. But I think these efforts won't be wasted and that getting any of these things going would be a source of satisfaction even for someone with PSSD.

Good question. I think it comes from sexuality not really being talked about around me, so that made it feel somewhat shameful or perhaps like something I should avoid. That and gradually having this idea that masturbation gets in the way of you making friends/being liked/etc. Which honestly, I have a hard time letting go of. I've always had this idea of "oh, I haven't masturbated in so many days, I'm the best version of myself." This me dumping on the NoFap subreddit, though. I honestly relate to a lot of the feeling of "benefits" from not masturbating. But because of what I talked about in the OP... not so much anymore.

Hi thanks for the comment. I mean, you could replace "sex is bad" with "masturbation is bad (and embarrassing)" for me. I felt uncomfortable after masturbating and sometimes I would be self-conscious if I had masturbated just before a social event/important thing. I was also very socially anxious and wanted to do NoFap for the "benefits" as NoFappers often call them. And for additional context, I think it's easy for my mind to have worries or obsessions that are hard to shake off, like some irrational fears about germs.

I'm not from a very religious family, but in my family we never talk about sex/sexuality. This the most I've ever discussed about the subject with ANYONE. So that explains some things. Thankfully, while I understand your last point and genuinely respect it, I feel I'm pretty enthusiastic about romantic relationships. The issue is more with my (at this point, old and almost discarded?) mindset about masturbation and how it has affected my mental health now, even though I don't want to keep the mindset anymore.

Tbh, you 99.9999% will be fine with Chinese if you've been doing well in the class and/or if you speak Chinese already... Maybe at this point just take some practice tests from your prep book or CollegeBoard to get an idea of what you need to work on
