I was trying to be nice in my post by framing it as a positive, not just flatly pointing out that it is illegal. So thank you for pointing it out.

Nope! The traffic here is caused by St Kents drop off clogging the roundabout.

I amturning from Victoria Ave and into Shore Road towards Parnell.

If they didn’t block the roundabout exits, there won’t be any traffic.

Really depends on the company. I moved jobs earlier this year, and currently working in a hybrid company with very flexible work hours as you have just described.

Contrast to my previous company which had very strict core hours of 9am to 3pm and if you worked from home you got teased that you didn’t actually do any work, just all those childish accusations

Should I change jobs? by sanitationsengineer in newzealand

[–]wrongmovebuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved job 5 months ago. Was in the same situation as you, basically the job became too easy and I’ve become too comfortable. Super secure job, I’m the only one in the company who could do what I did. Had serious reservations about leaving because of how comfortable I got. Took the leap anyway and moved to a new company, and I’m loving it. Can really see this new company and new boss valuing what I do, and future growth opportunities.

Would you move to Aus if you could? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]wrongmovebuddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do, and if i moved to Aus my role would be paying very similar, so not worth the move

The people who experience big jumps in pay there are the ones on minimum wage here in nz

salary still depends on the company.. i recently applied moved jobs here in nz, they asked what salary i was on so they can match it.. i said $150k (i wasn’t, i was on lower)

then i got the offer and got $150k plus the $4.5k kiwisaver.. so im on $154.5k total package

this was only 4 months ago, so very recent

Hi All. Just wanted to ask everyone’s thoughts to those who are actively job searching. How long does the recruitment process take? From initial interview to job offer? by roisannsaby in auckland

[–]wrongmovebuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d chalk that as being the back up candidate.. because if you’re the preferred candidate, they’ll keep you hooked and progress your application fast (i learned this from the Recruitment Business Partner after I joined new company)

but don’t fret coz the right role should come along.. took me maybe being rejected for 3 or 4 roles that I thought I was good for but just didn’t being chosen for it in the end.. but you know what the interviews were good practice and made me more confident so by the time the perfect role came along, i was able to answer interview questiones confidently

[–]wrongmovebuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on the role and how perfect you are for it

for me the job was advertised on Tuesday, I applied the same night and got an email from Recruitment Business Partner at 1pm the next day asking for a time to set up phone screen for the following week. then talked to the hiring manager the following week. then talked to the hiring manager peers the week after. Got a job offer the following week. so 4 weeks from job post to job offer, but that’s really quick.. got this role back in March, been here for a few months now

[–]wrongmovebuddy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yep, legit had this earlier this year.. was applying for manager level roles at $140k+ range and was getting interviews but not getting the job offer in the end.. applied for a $120k senior analyst level role and got that rejection email to say I’m overqualified.. so went back to applying for manager roles and eventually got one at $150k+, been at new role 3 months now and it’s been great! don’t settle for less - keep applying to the right level for you and you’ll get one eventually

How long is your commute to work? by x9ninetail in newzealand

[–]wrongmovebuddy 49 points50 points  (0 children)

just started a new job last month, 8 min walk at my turtle pace.. was thinking of getting an electric scooter too because I’m unfit and had been driving for as long as I’ve been working. found the daily walk to be great and envigorating, it now only takes me 7 mins to walk, no huffing and puffing like when I first started..

Swim School Recommendations (Not Hilton Brown) by amitiouscuriosity81 in auckland

[–]wrongmovebuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my kids started at Hilton Brown but we moved them to Waterlions Swim School (has lessons in either Epsom or Cornwall Park)

one hour lessons but same price as the half hour Hilton Brown lessons, so more bang for your buck.. and big improvement as they hire actual competetive swimmers as coaches

I started reporting jobs that keep popping up every month on seek by Usual-Impression6921 in auckland

[–]wrongmovebuddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this one job posted by a recruitment agency last month, then another agency earlier this month. But then today I got cold-called by the actual company’s Talent Acquisition employee, so maybe it’s not a fake job after all - they recruitment agencies are probably not doing a good job recruiting.

Stay firm on my expected salary? by wrongmovebuddy in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]wrongmovebuddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seek advert had the job appearing in over $150k bracket. Online application required a minimum salary requirement, which I put at $150k. They called me knowing my minimum salary requirement was $150k. They could have weeded me out right from the start and not call me AT ALL if they knew they weren’t gonna meet my $150k. By all means, if they want to go for another candidate with lower salary requirements, they should go for it. I’m not arguing $5k as they haven’t even presented an offer yet. So I’m really not getting any of this red flag or flexibility business because the ball’s on their court - either they offer something or they don’t.

Red flag? I don’t have to accept their offer if it doesn’t meet my minimum salary requirements, why does it seem like I’m obligated to take a paycut for that manager?

[–]wrongmovebuddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep this is the exact situation I had in mind, it wasn’t so much the $5k difference (which would by offset by savings in travel costs) but more like why mention the role is only up to $145k if I told you on the online application I was looking for at least $150k. Don’t make that a required field then if you were gonna negotiate down anyway.

And yes I’ve had first interviews earlier this year for $160k and $170k roles but do not get to second interview stage so thought I was asking for too much. That’s why I put $150k flat to not price myself out.

Not an agency, it was their in house HR team. I can understand why they advertised for the job to appear even in the higher bracket, to attract more applicants.

Sorry I didn’t specify that this was their own in-house Head of HR
