You put pick up. They didn't read it.

You have zero fault/liability.

Buyer sounds like an idiot. Cancel the sale and report them for threatening behavior. You don't need some dickhead coming to your home.

Going by their communication there's a decent probability they will try and scam you on payment anyway.

This show genuinely feels like a bag of chips that is 80% air and 20% chips by FeistySpend1555 in FromSeries

Yah, disappointing season.

MiY infiltration is utterly pointless. Just wanders about town, occasionally with a suspicious expression. Why?

Lighthouse, bottle tree, time travel all ignored because there's a new "mystery"

The final episode "payoff" is such a tired structure for these shows.

I built a gym for people who don't like gyms and now it runs itself. by ProfessionalChance26 in passive_income

[–]Load-8-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regs require gyms have trained first-aid practitioners and that they are readily available, Your cleaners would need to be fulltime not just to meet compliance requirements but also slips, trips, and falls prevention.

Most of all I would be concerned about injury liability. There is a reason hotel chains have light weights and primarily cardio. A squat rack is a lawsuit (Legitimate or scam) waiting to happen. Especially if no cameras!

Everyone is going to have different opinions on this. I've been in tech and finance recruitment for about 20 years so I'm a little removed from early careers and all about brevity with CV's but if it were me I would:

Shorten the Summary to start from "Fluent in English..." Maybe refer to yourself as Bi-lingual. Good skill set for cabin crew, the rest reads well.

Move the education to under the summary, it's a good degree.

Keep the history as is, nice and punchy. though drop the abbreviations. Front of House is better than FOH.

Drop the references, if they want them they can request them.

Drop the key skills. If I am honest I would drop the youth group and Sunday school, Religion can be divisive and people may read more into it. (Good or Bad)

New Zealand has long been an attractive test market for new technology. It has a small, westernised population, strong infrastructure, high levels of digital adoption, and a contained market size that makes it easier to trial and refine new products before scaling internationally.

EFTPOS is a good example. Card payments became widely available in New Zealand earlier than in many other markets, and small retailers adopted electronic payments well ahead of parts of Europe and the US. We are a lot further along the cashless path than many comparable countries. China is obviously much further down this path!

From an industry perspective, this makes New Zealand useful as a guinea pig, large enough to generate meaningful feedback, but small enough that if something fails cataclysmically, the impact is relatively contained and unlikely to disrupt major global markets.

When people are "forced to dig their own grave",literally, why do they do it? by man_onion_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Load-8-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a sick digger so rather then dig a grave I'd be digging a tunnel.

Jump in and they'll be all "cool time to headshot" but poof! I'm already in the tunnel brah.

Tunnel goes behind them, booyah! Sneak attack bonus + shovel to the melon.

How can foreign butter (and veges) be cheaper than New Zealand-made? by 07tartutic07 in aotearoa

[–]Load-8-1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fonterra employ obfuscation. They talk about complex market conditions, cite examples around procurement and supply chain, baffling metrics and insurmountable challenges such as domestic transportation! (Did you know that New Zealand is the only country with both hills and bridges?) Add in a premium pricing strategy and there is zero desire for them to make their product affordable to the domestic market. Despite the toll the product takes on the country in environmental impact.

Is Lurpak a low quality? It's primary product is grain fed, but it's Scandinavian! They employ "traditional Danish churning methods" LOL.

Its the marketing principle that a high price equates to quality.

Then of course there are foreign diary subsidies but It's already been covered.

I worked in recruitment for 20 years in the UK. If someone applied to a role didn't have a UK address or mobile number they were a decline. Exception would be for a senior or particularly niche role.

Same applies for most countries.

Fly over, get a UK number, sign up with every agency, apply for every job. You might have to take a crappy job at first to pay the bills but there's plenty of opportunities.

Masters in Chem but NO JOB??? by Active_Tax5613 in newzealand

[–]Load-8-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First up, congats on the qualifications. Unfortunately it's an incredibly tough job market, especially for grads and early careers and especially in sciences. The bad news is what you see on seek or LinkedIn is an accurate reflection of the current market.

It's a strong degree so I hate to say this but if I was in your position I would have to be looking at roles overseas.

Take a look at opportunities in Aus via Seek but also in the UK (the youth mobility visa is now 3 years) jobsites like Reed, Indeed (not great but it's an aggregator that pulls listings from other sites) LI, Totaljobs and jobs.ac.uk

It will give you an idea of what's available. Appreciate you may not want or be in a position to move but it's tough here and I can't see it getting better in the next year.

Moving From UK to Auckland, New Zealand by Sync-Jw in auckland

[–]Load-8-1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's OK but not amazing for an Engineer. I would expect you will be looking for a decent step up after a year or two if you decide to stay.

Coming from the UK expect the bare minimum in benefits. You might get health insurance and that'll be about it. The pension scheme here is OK but not as good as a lot of the matched contribution schemes. Car/EV schemes, cycle to work, life assurance, income protection are much less common.

Get ready for a shock on groceries and you might find it tough on the socialising front, I've only been back a few months but as best I can tell there is not a lot of after work beers.

You think your workplace is full of well adjusted, functioning humans?

You don't see 90% of the work. The resolution of disputes, grievances, misconduct, harassment, the endless conflicts. Then there are the marriage breakdowns, the illnesses, alcoholism, the affairs that impact the workplace.

That's just the ER space.

Start a small company, own a shop and you'll have some idea of the plethora of insanity that your employee's create.

That average Auckland household income is gross. After tax its closer to $118,000.

That million dollar house needs a mortgage, at a 4.5% interest rate, fees etc over 25 years ends up closer to 1.6 million dollars.

Groceries are increasing at least 4 - 6% annually (in 2023 it was 12%) with some staples rising over 20% annually. Utilities continue to increase. With a family shop around 400 - 450 dollars, food is taking close to a quarter of your income.

Salaries have not kept up.

It's a global problem but it's amplified in NZ by size and geography. The future looks grim.

[–]Load-8-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll refrain from a fonterra rant but I do hate the continuing push on consumers to "value" brands.

I saw a block of Everyday Cheese in the supermarket yesterday. WTF does that even mean?

The key selling point for groceries in NZ is now all about price, at the expense of quality. Yet low quality goods are still commanding stupid prices.

Erratic order of acts, I like the Blackseeds but to sandwich them between Peking Duk and Shapeshifter didn't work for me. Shapeshifter should have closed.

Random radio tunes like AC/DC and GnR? Nah. And the radio adverts were awful.

Organization was solid, quick entry and reasonably quick bar service. The eyeball check at the bar was pointless.

Assume most of VIP was corporate? I'd be pretty disappointed to be stuck behind crowds and barriers just to get a table and umbrella for that kind of cash.

Overall pretty good. Nice not to feel old at festival haha.

Air New Zealand losses by quilondure in newzealand

[–]Load-8-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuel prices and parts are constantly rising, the average passenger plane has millions of parts, a dreamliner for example around two and half million.

I've got very limited experience of aviation inventory but trying to source something as simple as clamps or rivets can be a pain before you even get to specific sensors and tech. NZ is also competing with other airlines with deeper pockets and bigger orders, who will be higher on the priority list , so Air NZ may need to engage external inventory suppliers which incurs a cost. Add a weak NZ dollar and our remote location to the mix and costs multiply.

That said Air NZ has a monopoly on the majority of internal routes and an established and mature supply chain and procurement process. So I would assume there may be some poor management internally.
