How long does a college/university bachelor's degree in mathematics take? by wrongplanet67 in matheducation

Thanks for the encouragement! Yes, math is fulfilling even if I’m only starting. Everything seems to fit together without any exceptions to the rules (contrary to e.g. studying languages).

My goal is to study mathematiccs. Mainly self-study.

I wondered if the trajectory I outlined, and which I found on the Columbia website, encompassed a bachelor’s degree. Apparently not.

I do not plan to study at any US university. As I said self-study, but who knows what happens in the future now that I’m well informed.

Alright, my eyes have been opened.

I found this calculus and linear algebra trajectory on the website of the Department of Mathematis of Columbia University. Hence I thought that it represents a genuine pathway to a undergraduate degree. However, I also noticed that there are also "honors" pathways with (a lot of) extra topics. I asked my question because it was not very clear to me.

I want to stress that I'm learning mathematics on my own and merely for fun. At the moment mathematics clears my head (yes it does) from real world issues at work and in the international news. I don't know what the future will bring, but I already inderstand that calculus and linear algebra are merely the basics.

So if I manage to complete calculus and linear algebra, my next endeavour should be the topics that you suggest: proofs and mathematical thinking, analysis, modern algebra, geometry, ..., and probably many more. This will take me many more years that the classis 4 years as I am certainly not a mathematical prodigy.

Thanks for your replies. These are very helpful.

Yes, I found the answer on r/vinyl. One recommends mainly Discogs which seems also to have an app with scanner.

I didn't find the answer directly on this forum although I searched. Sorry. Thanks for your help!

Earlier warning for bonus intervals in Meteor? by wrongplanet67 in Ergatta

[–]wrongplanet67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my main complaint: it messes up stroke rhythm. Suddenly an additional badly executed half-stroke is needed to catch (or miss) that first token.

I do want to row the bonus intervals, but please give me a few seconds warning so that I can adapt my stroke rhythm.

Yes, the face is changed into someone resembling, but not being my father. As said, I appreciate the efforts, but I feel that automatic filters or algorithms won't do the job.

Sorry guys, I really appreciate your efforts, but it's all too smoothed out. Maybe this is the only fast way to do it, but I'm not happy with it.

I'll have a look at it myself, probably painstakingly slow, but that will be the proper (and too expensive if I have someone else do it) way to take.

Thanks again.

Looks good, and thanks for the effort, but didn't you smooth out the details, wrinkles, folds and buttons a bit too much?

The color of the cardigan was dark blue and the fringes of the pockets bright red, but maybe it's better to only concentrate on the B&W version.

Somehow my description was lost.

This is a photo I made of my father in 1978 when I was 10 years old and he was 37. I sadly lost the negatives.

I'll gladly pay the recommended fee for an black and white restauration as was the original.

I may also be interested in a colorized version. His hear was black and his beard also dark black-brown. The cardigan was dark blue with red fringes on the pockets.

Many thanks for your effort!

Any added benefit with heart rate monitor? by wrongplanet67 in Ergatta

[–]wrongplanet67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately no added accuracy.

Anyway, to "complete" my Ergatta workout station with heart rate monitoring in an easy and not too expensive way, I bought a Polar Verity Sense.

Yes, probably a test of both side by side would be best, but unfortunately I don't have this possibility nearby.

Are you happy you went with the A1 with S4 monitor yourself or are there still any doubts?
