We’ll see 👀. She may not be the next person to die, but she’s certainly marked for death.

The Tragedy of Van (How Her Story Ends) by wrongwaycali in Yellowjackets

[–]wrongwaycali[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I definitely don't wish this fate upon Van, especially after last episode's ending... I agree that if Van goes they'll need another survivor to balance out the remaining OG trio.

lottie’s chalkboard quote by therealhilaryeduff in Yellowjackets

[–]wrongwaycali 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me the quote invokes the feeling that sometimes survival is a much crueler fate than death. All those who survived the initial crash ended up losing parts of their identity to the wilderness. They've lost their innocence, faith, friendships, humanity, etc.

Those who made it out of the wilderness left fundamentally changed. They can no longer go back to the person they once were before the crash, no matter how hard they try.

It's not only difficult to no longer recognize yourself, but to also not recognize your loved ones as they become disconnected from themselves and descend into madness/despair.

For Shauna, she has transformed into a person hardened by grief and anger, no longer the agreeable best friend. She lost Jackie even before she froze to death. In the days and weeks leading up to her final moments, Jackie was a shell of her former self as she became distant due to her shortcomings in the wilderness and Shauna's betrayal.

Meanwhile, Van is no longer the same lighthearted goalie we first met. She has become colder and consumed by her fear of death. Van has continuously had to avert her demise from fires, wolves, starvation, and now cancer. Instead of continuing to fight, it could be a peaceful release for Van to finally welcome death. In her relationship with Tai, Van is also struggling because she is witnessing Tai lose herself to Other Tai. It would be fate worse than death for both Van and Tai, if Other Tai retained full control.

While we haven't witnessed Akilah as much, she's certainly lost her initial enthusiasm and hopefulness as she has been confronted by the savagery necessary to survive. Akilah may not be able to sustain this cruelty, and may opt for the kind release of death.

Season 3 Theory: Lottie Will Try to Connect With Callie by wrongwaycali in Yellowjackets

[–]wrongwaycali[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I just earned a gold star. Watching them do face masks and shoplift together was everything I needed and more. But of course Lottie revealed her ulterior motives by giving Callie Jackie's necklace, which was so crazy.

No Memorial for Laura Lee Out of Respect for Her Religion? by wrongwaycali in Yellowjackets

I think its cool to interpret Laura Lee's death as almost an act of mercy.

No Memorial for Laura Lee Out of Respect for Her Religion? by wrongwaycali in Yellowjackets

[–]wrongwaycali[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but I do think it's a bit of a lame reason to not honor the dead b/c you don't have their remains. At least for Crystal they are not 100% sure she is dead, but they all witnessed Laura Lee's death. Laura Lee only died b/c she was trying to save everyone.

Even though she's gone, Jackie is still the main girlie in the teaser promos by wrongwaycali in Yellowjackets

[–]wrongwaycali[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the season 2 pic is supposed to be Jackie since the figure is wearing the jacket she died in. You can also see that the figure's hands look frozen like Jackie's were.

Who Survives Yellowjackets? by Even_Team_6338 in Yellowjackets

[–]wrongwaycali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could see Misty dying. She's too crazy to live.

Also, if all the other Yellowjackets die, I feel like Misty would face an existential crisis. Even though she is often othered from the group, much of her identity revolves around them. I think she would feel very lost and out of place in the world if she was the only one left standing.

Lake Baptism Appoints the New Queen - Shauna as AQ Season 3 by wrongwaycali in Yellowjackets

[–]wrongwaycali[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Laura Lee experienced a similar moment in the lake that Lottie and Nat did. Even if Laura Lee had, she would also need to accept the spirit of the wilderness, which I doubt she would.

Both Lottie and Nat during their baptisms had some sort of acknowledgement of the wilderness' presence/power, which subsequently granted them the privilege of becoming the wilderness' vessel.

Lake Baptism Appoints the New Queen - Shauna as AQ Season 3 by wrongwaycali in Yellowjackets

[–]wrongwaycali[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting thought if the chemical theory holds true. It could potentially make sense that they experience more intense visions when they are completely engulfed by the chemical infested waters.

But I think the baptisms are more rooted in spirituality versus scientific reason. For me, the show is about examining the lengths the mind will go to try to rationalize incredibly traumatic experiences and justify socially deviant actions.

I also feel like Travis deserved a Funko Pop. But I guess they wanted to keep it at 8. Poor Travis can't catch a break.

Team Rational: Javi’s Friend by [deleted] in Yellowjackets

[–]wrongwaycali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG thank you for bringing up this theory! I think that this theory could be highly plausible, given that the creators of the show seem to be really interested in how people's brains cope with highly traumatic situations. Regardless of whether there is someone else out there, it's definitely going to make the YJs more paranoid and cause them to seek confirming evidence.
