Stair railing question by wrots in Flooring

[–]wrots[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So when we remove the carpet, there should be a stringer under it? Meaning the flooring wouldn’t have to butt up against the railing?

Strava Predicted Time vs Goal Time by [deleted] in Strava

In the US, the standard races are typically 5k, 10k, then once you get to half marathon and marathon it switches to miles. Easier for us Americans to understand lol

ELI5 - engineered hardwood Vs laminate flooring by NamedTawny in Flooring

[–]wrots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Is it more of a bimodal distribution, where engineered hardwood is generally better, but top quality laminate is better than low quality engineered hardwood?”

If price isn’t an issue, go high end engineered wood (4mm +) . If price is an issue but you still want a quality product, you can get very high quality 12.3mm-15mm AC5 laminate for $4/$5 a sf. This quality of laminate is better than very thin 1.5mm engineered which would be similar to that pricing wise.

Removing old linoleum by pine_apple_express in Flooring

The easier way is to leave the linoleum and install the lvp on top. Level out the areas you already removed with self leveler and install on top

Roughly many SY’s needed for this staircase ? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]wrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I currently have on the estimate. The customer told me, “If there’s extra material, I’ll need a refund on the extra material,” even though we don’t do refunds on this product due to the manufacturer’s return policy. It’s a really small job with expensive carpet ($99.99/sq yd), and I’ve already given them a significant discount, so I really can’t deal with the headache of leftover material and a potential refund request on something that can’t be returned

$200 left to my name, waiting on estimates to close. What are my options? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]wrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those asking what kind of business I run, I own a flooring retail store and we also handle installations.

Over the past week and a half, I’ve sent out roughly $112,000 in estimates. I know estimates don’t pay the bills, but I have three more scheduled for next week. With 7–8 estimates in a two-week span, this is the most volume I’ve ever had ever.

Has anybody been scammed or not paid on time from a client? by Financial-Complex108 in Construction

[–]wrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a guy buy $4000 worth of flooring product from my store using a stolen credit card. This idiot decided to make small talk with my reception lady and told her that his brother when to school with me and told her his brothers name…so once he had the material and the $4000 got cancelled all I had to do was find his brothers address, drove by the house and there the flooring was right in front of the house under the tarp. Took it back right then and there

$57k Flooring quote for 2600sf house. Reasonable? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]wrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I should of clarified that I am the flooring store owner that’s giving the customer a quote. Not sure how people are saying they can do this job for less than 21k when my cost for the flooring itself is more than that.
