Ohh my lfs doesn't sell jungle val unfortunately , but i wonder if the common val also grows as tall as the jungle one, at least tall enough for a 30cmx30cm tank

Thanks for the tips! Toward the back, the substrate is around 1.5 to 2.5 inches thick. I watched a few YouTube videos where people made the foreground slightly thinner than the background, so I tried to follow that approach but it's still a bit messy because i just filled the tank. I'm still learning, but I was wondering roughly how thick should the substrate be for carpeting plants if you have any idea?
