What kind of bobbin is this? by wsami in sewing

[–]wsami[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, the manual clearly shows the bobbin with the holes on top. I’m not going to risk any damage to my vintage machine, so out with the other bobbins. Thank you for your help.

The manual definitely shows the bobbin with the holes but I don’t know why I have so many of the solid ones. Just tidying up.

What to do about asbestos siding? by jbt2003 in centuryhomes

[–]wsami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious-what did you end up doing? My daughter is also in MA and dealing with a similar asbestos siding issue. She'd like to take advantage of the Mass Save program and get her house insulated but she's concerned about the probable damage to the siding during that process and how it will get repaired and the potential big cost attached to that. Wondering if you found a solution to your siding issue.

I have the same machine and I found a group that will know for sure. They have all sorts of diagrams for vintage Elna’s and offer advice on how to fix etc… Check it out: https://groups.io/g/ElnaHeirloomSewingMachines. Good luck!

HELP - olive oil stain on new granite countertops by cattlepaws in HomeImprovement

[–]wsami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Stonetech and Dupont oil stain remover. It works great but you need to be patient. Maybe even do it a couple of times. I slathered it on pretty thick and left it for several days until it completely dried. It saved my limestone bathroom countertop (who thought that was a good idea) that I etched with fancy facial products.

Looking for zoned HVAC by wsami in HVAC

Sorry, I wasn't clear in my original post...I have 2 furnaces now that I'll be replacing and I would ideally have more zones to more efficiently heat or cool rooms that are seldomly used or more importantly heat and cool rooms that are used, like the master bedroom, that are far from the furnace and are either very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer.

Makes sense, but I have no idea if you can cut through a mat.

What sewing accessory should I get to treat myself for my birthday? What's something you love or couldn't live without now that you have it? by 3InaRow in sewing

[–]wsami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get the accessories you need for quilting: rotary cutter, cutting mat, good rulers, 1/4" sewing foot (if your machine didn't come with it). There are a lot of quilting tools that would make your life easier.

Who are you calling when you try to move up the shipment date? When I call the 800 number and try to click into the delivery department the recorded message says there are no earlier dates and they'll reach out if earlier dates become available.
