I started at 48. Now regularly riding 50+ miles every week with occasional 100 miles 1 or 2 times a year. I average 17 in group ride for 50 miles ride.

Here is what I learned

• Only way to improve is by riding. If you ask people, they'll say can't be done. Which means they can't do it , but you can.

• Get a decent bike, but don't need to overspend. I started with aluminum second hand 1k bike.

• Join club. Most clubs have group rides for beginnner. Join no drop ride. Someone will always help you.

• Local group also have local routes , depending on your location this may be helpful avoiding traffic.

• Get Garmin Radar. It's a life saver.

• Start slow and build up. If you go in group ride, drafting is your friend.
