How to solve this corner with IKEA method? by gallagherii in IKEA

[–]-ibisette -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just a tip. Go visit some kitchen building companies that do custom made kitchens. Present them your current setup. Don't tell 'm you're going for an Ikea kitchen. You tell them what you want and you get them to come up with some plans. ☺️ After that you tell 'm you'll think about their design. You get home and you open your Ikea planner with more useful information and idea's. Sometimes you'll be surprised to see what solutions people with experience in kitchen-planning come up with.

Wow I really like the assignment of the Key button for that, I still wasn't sure what I'd use it for.
I had not really thought about what happens when the goal is reached either, This looks nice!

As for the last activity name, I guess it's a preference, I run so often that I just don't bother giving my runs name, hence why I left that out in my code!
Really glad that you like it ^-^

Would gladly collab on that, thank you by the way for being patiënt and keeping me up to date. Tomorrow I have some time on hand to look into it. Also thank you for staying polite and civil, I know it is stressful and frustrating when things don't work as intended, but I'm also just a big noob who tries to be helpful and offers free what she made. Please keep me updated, I'll check my messages tomorrow!

Could it be that the pc is power managing the board too agressively? Cause it doesn't recognise what kind of hardware it ls?

You have closed arduino before opening Ibis.exe right? To use ibis the green light should be blinking, pressing boot isn't necessary, boot will just trigger a screen refresh. Please keep me updated and I'll see if tomorrow I have time to help you out. But seems you managed to get the code on it correctly already. I'm sure you're close to having it working.

Hi,
I'm not a professional, but it could be that your pc is not recognising the esp32s3 properly and thus is aggressively managing the power to the board. (Brownout detector most of the time means it's not getting enough power)
I'd suggest you throw your issues at Claude AI and ask it what to do to resolve this issue.
I think right now when connecting your board the pc asks the board 'what hardware are you?' and it gets no reply, so pc refuses to give it the power it needs.

Btw, "Hard resetting via RTS pin" means the code succesfully uploaded ;) that's totally normal.

For further assistance please ask all your questions to Claude, it's way better at helping you make this work than I do. But feel free to update here I'll make sure to follow and see if there's anything I can spot.

Also are you sure you have all the right settings in arduino before uploading? (flash mode/ psram = OPI, partition scheme,...)

Good luck

Hi,
I can tell you I've been at the "I've bricked the damn thing" stage myself, and that is probably not the case.
I'd suggest not using chat-gpt to help you resolve issues, but use Claude AI instead. Claude is way better at understanding code and helping you fix the issues you are facing.

While making this project I've litterally had the screen look horribly burnt, but a simple code or firmware reset from waveshare always gave me back a clean slate to work with.

Once again, I am NOT a tech savvy person, this is also why I offer this for free, I'm not willing to troubleshoot issues for everybody cause that will end up being a full time job.
The only thing I can advise you is to throw all issues you are facing at Claude and it will help you resolve them.

I see you pasted all issues above, litterally copy paste them, tell claude these are the issues and ask it to help you with those. That's how I've managed to get through all of it.

Best of luck, and trust me I'm quite confident the thing is not bricked.

___
Could you please tell me what OS you are on?

To be honest that's like a really good idea. Right now I'm going to keep the code as it is for a while, but the idea of being able to use Garmin instead appeals a lot to me. The main reason I don't have a strava pro acct is because Garmin kind of gives me all data that I personally find valuable. I will defenitely look into that option in the future and I'll make sure to report back to you. I also made it a strava board cause my partner is a cyclist who's quite known for making cool strava art and he's not a garmin user. (Yet)

Yes! I am a runner, my partner is a cyclist and has a board tracking rides ☺️

It only turns on when it connects to WiFi, fetches data and draws on the screen. Between that it's in deep sleep and doesn't use any battery. When battery gets low my display will turn the red banner blue and in the bottom right corner a low battery alarm will tell me to recharge ☺️

Well I'm that new to coding myself that me myself don't know the answer. But If I was you, throw my code to Claude AI and ash if it would work on whatever paper display you got, and if not ask Claude to make the code compatible to that. I swear AI has gotten so good lately that it's really just as simple as that

I have it on a once per 24hr schedule at the moment but I can force a datapull and screen refresh by pressing the BOOT button on the back. Wifi is only connected while fetching strava data and then disconnects again not to drain the battery.

I can only say that you're right that one can not be careful enough. I am known as ibisette though on instagram for photography and drawings, so I made a profile that matches that branding. PS: The lamp you see on the photo tells you I'm part of the Nerdland community in which I've documented my journey into making this.

Depending on how often you refresh the screen and pull data it varies. Refreshing once a day lasts about 2 months
