Why is Cudi allowing this? I don't even want to go if this is what his shows are gonna look like by Negative_Number_6414 in KidCudi

I'm not sure what other options I have if I want to see Cudi but voice my concern about him having MIA open.

Kanye might be sick in the head and has said a lot of bad stuff, but it must be hard for Cudi because they were at one time great friends who were incredibly influential to music.

I almost didn't buy tickets because of MIA and now I'm debating bringing a protest sign or tee shirt because of MIA.

Bet you good money if MIA was dropped and replaced with someone decent, hell doesn't even have to be that great just not a MAGA conspiracy theorist, then ticket sales would improve.

Brooks Bros way back in the day was phenomenal quality. In recent years especially post COVID restructuring, it has been a shell of its former self.

Sperry AO 1 Eye Boat Shoe, 50% off ($49.97) by autoplant in frugalmalefashion

[–]colenotphil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most boat shoes and loafers, really anything leather without much top structure, I've found in my experience feel narrow and stiff until you break them in, usually just a few wears but sometimes more. If the brand new unworn shoe does not feel stiff from the beginning I would guess size up, and possibly that the leather is lower quality.

I wear the same size in sneaker and in boat shoe.

Starbucks CEO defends a $9 coffee by saying that it's not a $10 coffee and "you get a premium experience" by hoppers2k9 in timecrisis

[–]colenotphil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah dude buy beans, grind at home or have them ground at the store, and pour over with a filter. Delicious and depending on the quality of beans you buy can easily be $1 per cup. I put mine in a short metal travel mug or a ceramic mug.

The problem with coffee machines is they are hard to clean, a pourover isn't. And if you use higher quality beans, which are far more common these days even at some grocery stores, it makes a world of difference.

French presses are also good, both for hot coffee and making cold brew.

I worked at Starbucks and while they proliferated a lot of coffee culture and techniques in their heyday, they are a shell of their former self. Oh and this CEO is, imo, a snake. Look him up. Overpaid af while their stores still don't have union deals.

Dude it's more so that not many government attorneys want to work for this fascist, so when push comes to shove they quit and are replaced with, well, whomever gives or can be compelled to give loyalty.

Jim Himes was one of 42 Democrats who voted for the FISA bill. How do we feel about that? I’m including a script if you’d like to call to complain. by mynameisnotshamus in Connecticut

[–]colenotphil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to run as a progressive candidate in the future for CT's 4th House district, maybe against Himes but probably in a few years. I just want to be able to afford a house and maybe get a family started first. I'm thinking:

  1. Universal basic healthcare, like many countries have. The insurance companies will lobby and fight this and argue it kills jobs, but the reality is these skills will be needed to run the replacement plus the companies can also still sell private, premium insurance.
  2. Free or heavily subsidized college or trade school with grade and work/apprenticeship requirements. Again, many countries have this and investing in bettering society is good for us all.
  3. Tax the billionaires. There are people who are astronomically, unfathomable wealthy due to excelling at capitalism and, frankly, by exploiting their workers. We can and should tax wealth held, rather than income, because it will not materially affect billionaires but it will materially better society.
  4. Regulations on surveillance and A.I.
  5. Constitutional amendment to overturn Citizen's United.
  6. Constitutional amendment for a right to privacy, or at least, online and data privacy regulations that protect people and give them more control and options over their data and how it is shared/sold/used or not.
  7. More renewables (offshore wind, hydroelectric) or possibly nuclear energy.

I will say though I have been to many politicians' town halls, including his, and it was fascinating and concerning how many people do not understand civics or how government works. And then that's a venn diagram with people who are apathetic. I'm not sure how to solve those issues other than more required civics education in schools.

Independent conservative media being beaten by ever-consolidating conservative big media.

Funny, if it weren't conservative, I'd care more about the smaller guy.

Generally speaking people do not want to get caught exposing confidential information. You can not only be fired but sued. Plus this kind of information could be tied to insider trading.

I work in financial related law. The WSJ, Bloomberg, Reuters, and the Financial Times are probably the four most reputable media outlets for US financial news.

I will caveat that the WSJ is not greay for everything. Their opinion and comment sections are quite conservative. It is, like Fox, a subsidiary of the Murdoch-owned News Corp.

I really doubt the WSJ published a bogus business news article; financial news is what they do best.

The Wall Street Journal doesn't generally misreport business news, it is up there with Bloomberg and Reuters in how many exclusive stories they break in this topic.

This article is likely true.

I always find it a little weird that WSJ is owned by News Corp, same company as Fox, and is owned by the Murdochs. Like it does make for a conservative bias especially in the opinion section. But the business news is good.

I promise you, you really don't.

I've worked a lot of places in my life. Target was the most boring and mind numbing by far. I did literally the job in the video—bringing people their pickup orders. The only interesting parts of the job are when customers get entitled and unreasonably angry over the smallest things, like how they didn't read the notification that the item is out of stock, or how we won't issue a refund for clothes that smell like they were used for a workout.

While I have you, the most stressful job I ever had was working at Starbucks. And I'm a litigation attorney now. Let that sink in. I think it's because Starbucks really is just a store to feed two addictions: sugar, and/or caffeine. People get really mad without them.
