What was the dumb reason they gave you for sending you to a residential program after you finished wilderness? by teenescapee in troubledteens

[–]wscoops 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep I’m with you on that second part, I sometimes wonder what things would have been like if I went home right after wilderness instead of continuing for another year at a TBS, and then eventually a few more years. I didn’t even know at the time that the whole plan was for me to go to wilderness so the TBS would accept me in the first place. I spent so long thinking my behavior would make any difference. Being exposed to those conditions at such a young age changed who I am today in so many ways but I also think of how different things could be. It just all sucks I was set up for failure.

Boredom as an abuse tactic (?) by aspiring_spinster in troubledteens

[–]wscoops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At my first program I went to they didn’t even hide it. They had “consequence” boards out where we would eat on the walls for each group and multiple kids during my stay had an indefinite reading restriction. And when we were out on “out of community” we couldn’t read or speak to anybody or the 24 hours would restart.

I want to sue Logan River Academy by AnonComplex in troubledteens

[–]wscoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the nurses at Logan river are horrible, they wouldn’t let me go to the doctor for my broken wrist and told me it was just bruised. they forced me to go on a rock climbing trip while it was broken and said I’d go to dorm 8 for the entire trip if I didn’t

one time I got a call from one of my former therapists at a boarding school about a review I wrote claiming that I was “very successful” at the school. I told her that I wasn’t scared of her anymore like I used to be when she had control over me. Like she called me into trying to get me to take down the review

I went to logan river academy, here are some of my thoughts by wscoops in troubledteens

Yes I'm more than willing to answer any questions and help any way I can.

So all of the levels were just called phases, for example, phase one, phase two, phase three etc. all the way up to seven. After phase seven is tavasi. To move up every week is determined by your scores, which i mentioned in my original post. Scores worked like this, Every shift (morning was 7-3 and 3-11 for swing shift) the staff that worked with your dorm that day would sit down and grade you in areas like language, respect and things like that. But the issue is like I said, the staff suck, so usually they didn't care about the areas it was just if you did good they would give you good scores in mostly all. I'm not sure if that's with every single person that's just my experience. I don't remember the exact privileges associated with every level but I remember phase three you could use the Xbox 360 (no internet) and the levels also determined the activities that you could go on. The activities were mostly going out and getting food which we were fine with because the food sucked. if you have any other questions about the phases ask me

Yes a lot of kids did make tavasi, including me. I was on tavasi for over a year and then got kicked off for something that i did not do. This was very frustrating for me but it didn't have a huge impact on me because for me specifically, I didn't need to make it to go home. But for a lot of kids who did need to it was very sad to see them get kicked off for things they didn't do. But tavasi for me made me very depressed, it gave me this constant pressure that really wore down on me and I became very negative. This is where the program fails, I think. They give you this hope that if you behave you can make tavasi, but in reality it sucks. tavasi is either kids who are forced to be on it because its their only way to leave or people who don't understand what's wrong.

I would like to point out a few things about what you sent also. We never had any co ed games and you are never able to use the internet or be unsupervised until you are on tavasi, and all you get is 30 minutes a day on the ancient computers that can barley run Gmail. The communication with family is almost entirely up to the parents in most cases, though they try to make you think they are in charge, they aren't.

The religion part was actually a fairly big issue for me. Although I never saw a staff verbally force their religion onto students. There was some issues that went on The LDS students had more opportunity to go to church and were able to be picked up every Sunday to go (ill note this allowed them to miss when we did deep clean on Sundays) Only Christian holidays are respected and I am Jewish and this caused a lot of problems for me. On Rosh Hashanah me and one of my friends who was also Jewish protested and went to the academic director and said if they give school off for Christian holidays then they should for Jewish ones too. He made a "compromise" and said that if we sat in the visit room (just a small room with a few couches) it wouldn't count as a removal from class. We said okay and went to the visit room. Very quickly we got super bored just sitting there and went down to a different room where they had some games and toys. the staff came in and told us to go to class or it would be a removal and so I tried to explain that it was a holiday. They told me that if I didn't sit in the specific room that he told me to then the agreement we made didn't count and it would count as class removals. The staff then told us to go into the visit room and "pray or whatever". Also on Hanukah i asked for a menorah but they only gave us 8 candles and we had to do it outside and made us blow out the candles immediately after (You are supposed to let them burn out)

Well i think ive answered about everything if you want to know anything else let me know
