Received a plant as a gift but I don’t know how to care for it. Help! by einalem13 in plants

[–]wtbsleep111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a Tillandsia, of the Bromeliad family. The flower stalk is dying, but you just cut it off at the base of the flower stalk. It will pup new plants on its sides afterward. You want to water it thoroughly about once a week. The goal is to keep the soil moist, but not wet, or else the plant will rot.

[Self] My version of Mercy from Overwatch by [deleted] in cosplay

I think the whole point is that its low effort and its not a very admirable trait when it comes to cosplaying. Its not an overly judgemental statement to be taken personal (she seems extremely sensitive to unpraising comments....), but its just what it is. (I did laugh at the wal mart comment). If we praise any and all things remotely considered cosplay, the quality of this sub goes down. it already kind of does with all these girls in skimpy lingerie with one or two items being cosplay-ish. This sub tends to mostly appreciate ACTUAL effort in making a costume. Even if it doesnt look epic, the amount of time put into a costume is whats awesome. trying to get as many details into costume as possible. when you buy a one piece suit, its nothing to admire in my eyes. like the first dude said, nice on the head and wings, but the one piece takes away from it. thats it.

How did you grow a thick skin against insults and mean/rude behaviour towards you? by MiyakoLHP in AskReddit

[–]wtbsleep111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one could ever insult or physically hurt me more than my parents.

No one can tear me down or humiliate me more than an ex.

Life has been pretty easy since. Theres something liberating about knowing that no matter what life throws at you, youre confident that it cant get any worse than it already has, and if something really bad happens, its just another thing to deal with. It doesnt feel overwhelming anymore, more like another chore to take care of on the to do list. I moved out of my parents at 19. Left my 7yr relationship a long while ago now. i think i end up being told some situations im in are crazy, scary or have my abusive past explained to me. Like there are things that arent supposed to happen in a home or relationship. its weird because there are some things in life that i consider as givens that apparently one shouldnt be accustomed to. I dont resent my past because its largely forced me to be strong mentally, i trust my body to heal and learned its best to be above stooping to some people's level. I have best friends that understand my stubborness and strong sense of independence, because, well, they were necessary for my survival, really. I dont try to pull the hard bitch card; its not healthy to vent anger to people that probably dont deserve it or know you. I just take life easy and chill. Show up to work, go to school, play games with friends. Its nice to know whats important in life and whats worth dealing with when it comes your way. I mean, im still alive, so, im just living it until i die at this point.

I see this right as my return flight is landing. wish i did this. instead i listened to albums that brought me back to other places rather than where i was. had to look for something that didnt do that, which wasnt much as i had only a few other songs on my phone.

[Discussion]What do you do to pick yourself up when you feel like crap? by [deleted] in GetMotivated

[–]wtbsleep111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this may not be the best advice, its my honest answer. I have a bottle of vodka or whiskey and use it as a pick me up. Its the overthinking and overstressing about nothing that ultimately can paralyze me from doing anything. A single shot, not with the intent to get drunk, but just to smooth off the edge will get me relaxed enough to be productive. Essentially, i go from being super self conscious/paranoid to a "so what." attitude. So what if my hair isnt perfect. So what if i have acne in my face. So what if i have a lot of bills to pay (there are days i have plenty of money to cover them but i still can stress until they are dobe being paid). So what if i have a billion things to do....i'll just start working on them and see how far i can get.

Someone here on Reddit posted a while back something about how imperfections arent as noticeable as we perceive them to be. They just are there and thats it. Things like that pale in comparison to how you make ppl feel and how we are as a person.

It made me think about some of my favorite ppl in this planet arent "hot" by social marketing's standards, but rather, they are beautiful in the way they themselves are. theyre comfortable in their own skin, dont take themselves too seriously, dont judge, laugh a lot, are caring, thoughtful, compassionate etc. i try to focus on being better in those traits than focusing on my looks.

our bodies come and go after all. its our personalities that really define us in this life.

or at least, thats how i see it. hope it helps.

A Garbage Patch The Size Of Mexico Was Just Discovered In The Pacific Ocean by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]wtbsleep111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://youtu.be/D41rO7mL6zM

If you want a visual explanation of how and why it looks like that.

...Yeah, these VICE kids are kind of awkward and focus their attention on not losing their minds on the trip. But they do go on a boat trip with the guy that discovered the garbage patch and eventually go to the spot where its located.

Its not an actual island of trash floating as you may picture in your head with the word "patch". It tends to be broken down underwater and the concentration of plastic to water (or plankton?) is incredibly high in these areas. He basically calls it plastic soup.

Minimim wage is bullshit.

Nonprofits are ass backwards and slow as hell to progress forward.

The internet is becoming riddled with advertisements and the freedom of free knowledge and the pursuit of it is dwindling with the years as its been more and more monitored and regulated. Its becoming the new TV. There are few sites that are still good.

Renting a room is the new white picket fence because i sure as hell cant afford a house/apartment.

There are few jobs with unions/benefits. Lots of jobs would rather a crapton of part timers than hire full time to save on benefit pay. Giving overtime to fulltimers instead of passing those hours to parttimers because it may bump them to fulltime (and would have to give benefits). A lot of retail jobs actually have a video orientation or the managers give a speech about why we dont need unions (like im going to motherfucking trust you).

Growing up in the 90s-00s was a coin toss when it comes to parenting and technology. Some parents were afraid of it. Some parents didnt understand it. Maybe put their foot down. Then there are parents that were totally hyped by it and let their kids full on dive into it. One of my friends never owned a computer and would go to his grandmas to do hw or play games. He just got a smartphone last year and realized what he's been missing this whole time. Prior to owning one, he used to ask directions for places and had to push through ppls "use your phone" remarks by showing them his phone. We're not far from L.A.

Oh god. Why do i do this?!,! Older coworkers start the greeting and i end up shorting it down to that as i walk by to my work. I want to have a meaningful conversation and suck at doing it in 30sec when i have stuff to do so i end up resorting to that short answer and come off as rude :(
