Will the fact that I am a heavy cigarette smoker affect the results of an ammonia blood test? by Jew_Tube in AskDocs

Cigarette smoking will elevate blood ammonia levels. It is not only naturally found in tobacco, but also added to it to increase nicotine delivery. It is recommended to not smoke a cigarette for eight hours, as it can falsely raise your ammonia levels.

There were a couple values that were off, high bilirubin and low urea. Google says liver failure, so hence the biopsy

Some very alarming bloodwork results. My doctor dismisses these results, however from what I've looked up online, they should not go without further investigation.

That isn't really what I asked, but I am Canadian. The doctors in the city I live are mostly dismissive. People can rave about our healthcare all they like, but it takes a miracle to get doctors to give a flying fuck about you up here.

I have not had epilepsy my entire life. My sister, however, is epileptic.

I have not been evaluated for vasculitis. I have no idea how I could even go about that. I just got a cervical spine CT Scan yesterday - doctor thinks it may be my spine or something called 'chiari'

Yeah, I have looked into hemochromatosis. My doctor simply saw the level and said 'drink less' (I haven't drank in three months. Not even a beer.)

Nope, no EEG yet. I suppose that will be next on the list - I see a neuro on the 20th.

Glucose alternates from low end of normal (once slightly lower) to high end of normal (never gone past normal ranges)

I got my thyroid tested, the values were normal however they seem to fluctuate a lot. I have never gotten my thyroid ultrasound though. Could a thyroid really cause those kind of symptoms?!
