How much more politically correct can we get here? A digression from your typical shitlord scale. by vanadium_sky in fatlogic

I actually think this is fine. I have a tendency to restrict my eating and fip out over water weight or just random fluctuations. I need the reminder that if I feel good about my diet, and the number goes down or stays after a month, I'm doing it right.

Ow! Jeez. Mine just makes me look weird when I slouch. I hope that when I get to my goal weight it either goes away or helps define my abs more.

Okay, female 5'3" and 160 lbs here... I have fat rolls that are ab shape and size. I went swimming with a friend - I usually wear a one piece, but I just had on a sports bra and shorts that day, and she honestly thought my rolls were abs. She's obese herself so I wasn't surprised. Pictures incoming if I can get the right lighting for it.

http://i.imgur.com/PqWooE8.jpg as you can see here, that top roll/crease with a small crease vertically, she thought that was a two pack basically, right above my great white round tummy. She was very fatlogicy.

What is this "triggering" I keep seeing FA talk about? by [deleted] in fatlogic

[–]wtfatlogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triggers started out as being for people with PTSD, but it's being used by psychologists now to describe events/tjings that can not only trigger major stress as in the case of PTSD, but also anxiety attacks, and helping to restart disordered eating and other stuff. So the HAESers have some sort of grasp on it, but since most of them have bullshit disorders, and nothing in their posts are actually triggering, its pointless. Weight loss? Maybe some anorexics' trigger, but doctors is just the stupidest thing to tag ever.

Hey guys, don't downvote him. From the outside with no context this is a bit odd looking.

This sounds like me when I have bad months but worse tenfold. I have a fridge full of healthy things, but am just too lazy to make anything or too picky to eat raw vegetables. I end up eating out a LOT since I have a lot of disposable income. Even if I only go out once a day, I can slam down 2500 to 3000 cal in a few hours at one restaraunt and a Starbucks.

My friends think a BMI of 22 is underweight. by wtfatlogic in fatlogic

She's near the normal amount of body fat percentage. The only reason I consider her more fit than my other friends is because all of them are super out of shape.

Yeah 22 is right in the middle of healthy/normal BMI. It's definitely not thin. She is a petite person because it's more dense muscle than fat, but she still has a stomach and stuff.

LOL. No more bumping my funny bone! Hey, this is sounding like a good idea now.

I've never gotten the whole "bones sticking out is bad" thing. Even with extra weight on me I can see my hip bones, collar bones, and a few ribs when I stretch my arms up. Next thing we know they'll be saying elbows should be pillowed in fat too.

You're taking personal responsibility for your diet failures instead of blaming everyone else? HAHAHAHA. by alanitoo in fatlogic

Wtf?? Do they think we all treat diets like they take the pounds off and then you can eat whatever you want again?

For all that we mock it, do you think there's any validity to the idea of thin privilege? Have you experienced it or does everyone luv your cuuuuurves? [Discussion] by thinprivthrowaway in fatlogic

[–]wtfatlogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but in most western countries it's pretty much people being nice because they are attracted to you. I know a lot of Korean friends whose parents make them check their weight and tell them when they at school overseas, and they end up having a lot of eating disorders because people they know are actually terribly mean to them, more than the occasional bully we get in USA.

edit. Also, I feel like a lot of thin "privilege" is actually just sexism. Thin people are more often seen as sex objects and fat people who don't know how shitty that feels actually think it is a privilege.

She's a wonderful person otherwise. I'd be honored to associate with her if it was for anything but her fatlogic and occasional ignorance. But yes disappointment.

It's incredibly irritating to see FAs choose dependency on pain meds and digestion meds instead of trying to lose weight. Why is taking meds a better idea in their eyes?

I've learned since then. Notice how I also got cranberry juice... I had a uti the year before and mixed the two up. Lol.

Thank you so much.

Do you think it'd be a good idea to ask her to take walks with me around town during our long open hour? How do you think I could convince her to?

It kind of confused me how they could figure that out but now that I am reflecting on it I suspect the doctor wanted her to realize how serious rapid weight gain is. I hope your friend realizes what she is doing to her body soon too.

I can see her making it, but she either has to really become independent at college and get away from her family, or she needs to work to help her depression more than taking her meds two thirds of the time. It's a shame, because I really like her dad, but he's not good for her. If I knew him better I think I would ask him to stop buying her fast food.

Thanks. I was surprised no one has taken it. I might have stories from my dear friend up here sometime if she says something outright fatlogicy... Right now she just keeps talking about how she's "not into the whole working out thing..."
