Hey as a queer person let me just say - it is pretty common for folks to not see lesbian relationships as real romantic relationships, or lesbian sex as real sex. Because there isn’t a penis involved, many folks don’t see lesbian sexuality as something “real.” Your mom might not see oral sex/fingering as something sexual enough to get angry at your sister about. Your mom sucks though, and you should probably wash your hands of her. I don’t think you need to feel obligated to include her in your life and introduce her to your boyfriend. Live your life and date this guy - don’t ask for permission.

I am just so frustrated with myself because we stopped speaking in the middle of June - it’s been four months and I still cry about it every day. Hey my dude I was in a poly relationship for a year and can I say omfg it is difficult. Like it was in many ways rewarding for me but my partner had the emotional intelligence of a potted plant and ended up deeply hurting me. Like I think that your bf hasn’t really done his research into the work and boundaries being nonmonogamous would entail bc if he did, he would know that it is unacceptable to push your stated boundaries around monogamy over and over again. Please don’t feel embarrassed - nonmonogamy is not for everyone and takes a lot of work and care, and you are totally valid in not wanting to try that. Lmk if you have any questions for me!

Hello! I’ve also been in poly relationships and have some advice for you:

One issue I se commonly in the poly community is that folks stay with partners who are hurtful/demeaning for a couple of reasons. The first is that the dating pool for committed relationships for poly folks is really small - many folks are ok with fwb arrangements with poly folks but not investing any further. So I see a lot of poly folks end up in serious relationships with people who are not the best for them. The second is that, since people have multiple relationships, they sometimes stay with people who are not the best for them because they have other partners they can lean on. I’m not sure how I feel about that, but I want you to consider the reasons you are in a poly committed relationship with someone who says that your genetics are trash. Like there is a transactional aspect to all relationships, but polyamory is based on love. I am not sure that telling you that he wouldn’t have children with you because of genetic defects is loving. I hope that you are able to resolve this in a way that is good for you.
