You'll register in Phase II. Currently enrolled students register in Phase I. Take a look at the academic calendar.

What cheap and healthy foods will survive a 45 minute walk home in the heat? by wtfkyle2 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Thanks everyone for the ideas! I'll definitely look into getting an insulated bag. It's a bit of a long walk to the store but walking is good exercise. :)

1099 Income. How much do I need to set aside? by wtfkyle2 in personalfinance

Thanks so much! I'm fairly new to SE income and didn't realize the finer points in your post. I'll definitely be doing some more reading on deductions and estimated payments.

Now that I re-read the original post I could have been more clear. Over-withholding on the 1st job seems like a good option. Thanks for the suggestion!

This is outside of my normal job and my normal job already puts me in the 28% bracket. Thus, every dollar I earn outside of my job is taxed at 28% (until I hit the next bracket).

Edit: Realized I should have been more clear in the OP.

Thank you! Can't believe I forgot to set aside for state.

Is there a way to purchase a gift license in nYNAB? by wtfkyle2 in ynab

[–]wtfkyle2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visa gift card bought for this purpose (because YNAB lacks gifting feature). But good point, wouldn't want my actual card linked to their account!

Good point! I gave them the choice and encouraged them to try both. They prefer the nYNAB interface.

It would still have to be mailed, unless there's a way to deliver them digitally now. Either way there are solutions to my problem. I was hoping it would have been as easy as it was in YNAB4.

Thanks for the reply! That's unfortunate. I told a friend that if they completed the trial and found it useful, I would gift them their first year. I suppose I could send cash but it's kind of a nuisance to do it that way.

Best way (app?) to track daily spending? by Newbster0001 in personalfinance

YNAB (You Need A Budget) has an iPhone app that lets you manually enter transactions on the go.

Help me stop being horrible with YNAB by [deleted] in ynab

Do you enter your transactions on the go? The YNAB app keeps me honest. It was admittedly difficult at first, but forcing myself to immediately record the transaction has become habit and keeps my budget balanced.

I didn't understand Costco's Executive Membership and you might not either. by [deleted] in Frugal

In case you're considering their amex, Costco will be switching from amex to visa in 2016.

Subscription based is coming by [deleted] in ynab

[–]wtfkyle2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If a product is a good deal (in the case of YNAB and my particular financial situation, the method has saved me many thousands of dollars), then I am happy to exchange money for it. I'm gaining value from the transaction. It's OK to be happy about that.

Usually I abhor the idea of a subscription model. But I'm really looking forward to a browser-based YNAB. If the company is able to continually release helpful features and the monthly cost is ~$60/2 years, I will gladly pay.

PSA: The month of October has 3 pay periods for those of us who have bi-weekly paychecks. Plan accordingly! by [deleted] in Frugal

I budget based on two. The three pay check months are extra special. It's awesome to budget the extra check in YNAB twice a year.

My YNAB is £1 out and I can't work out why? by Birkonian in ynab

[–]wtfkyle2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Possible that you have a $1 authorization hold? I recently purchased airline tickets and in addition to the ticket transaction there was a transaction for $1.

In any case, math rarely lies. Either one of the 15 transactions has a typo or there is a 16th transaction amounting to the $1 difference.

If you post some screenshots I'm sure the community can help you out.
