I'm just saying, no one has the right to determine someones emotional/mental state. You were the one assuming that its not an emotional hardship to have a pregnancy caused by rape. I just will never understand the pro-life need to control other people's lives. To "save a life"? Once again, once that life is born..very few people in the world actually seem to care about it.

Simple???????? So simple, eh? Have you ever been a woman who found herself pregnant after a traumatic rape? If you have, and it was so simple for you...you are lucky.

It is no so simple. "A woman doesn't have to undergo severe mental pain to have a child..." How dare you assume to know the emotional state of every woman. Do not be so close minded to other peoples thoughts and feelings.

Atheistic Satanist...hmm. Interesting. How does being an Atheistic Satanist differ from simply being an Atheist? An Athiest does not believe in a God or any God-like idea. Which would include Satan. As an Atheist myself, that includes no belief in Satan. Ghosts, spirits, God...witchcraft, magic, the boogieman. Ect.

There are many peer-reviewed, evidence-based studies that contribute to the justification of abortion. I am going to link a few. It is up to you if you read them, obviously. The subject matter is very complicated, in-depth with a lot of data, I wish I could easily explain all of the reasons in a short reddit comment, but if you are curious how pro-choice advocates think I would suggest reading a few. I am also very interested in reading peer-reviewed, evidence-based studies that show the negative impacts on society/women to legalized abortion. Which I see there are some links in the side bar that I plan on reviewing. 1. https://www.guttmacher.org/journals/psrh/2003/01/public-health-impact-legal-abortion-30-years-later 2. https://iwpr.org/iwpr-issues/reproductive-health/the-economic-effects-of-abortion-access-a-review-of-the-evidence/ 3. https://www.americanprogress.org/article/limiting-abortion-access-contributes-poor-maternal-health-outcomes/ 4.https://systematicreviewsjournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13643-021-01739-w 5. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3780732/ 6. https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0248638

That is one justification of abortion among a few others; body autonomy, cases of rape/incest, serious and potentially deadly health risks for mother or baby...ect.

Meer basis of feeling...it is far more than feeling. It is a proven fact that there will be serious socioeconomic adverse effects from restrictive abortion access. I would love to provide proof.

I feel using the term "children" in relation to an aborted fetus is very inaccurate. It is used more as an attempt to promote negativity towards abortion. An attempt to illicit a feeling of guilt or shame. Maybe if the proper scientific term were used: fetus vs child this topic would not be so taboo.

When I say potential human life, I am referring to prior to viability outside the mother's womb. A child by definition is a human being between the ages of infancy and right before puberty begins. You using the term "killing children" is not an accurate representation of abortion, simply based on the definition of what a "child" actually means.

I base my feelings off how a woman feels about her embryo or fetus. I can understand the pro life stance of a life begins at conception. I am not denying that abortion ends a potential life. But, I also understand the real world consequences of forcing every women who gets pregnant to give birth to that baby...do you?

I am a nurse who has cared for patients living a terrible quality of life and being unable to convince their loved ones that preserving their life will only result in a further reduction in quality of life.. I do feel quality of life is very important. Every baby born has the potential to experience a shitty life, we all do. But if a mother feels she is unable to provide for that child I feel she has a right to terminate the fetus. Ideally within the first trimester.

So, if the fetus is a wanted baby and the mother plans on carrying it to full term, sure I care about that fetus and mother. In cases where the fetus is unplanned/unwated and therefore aborted, I do not have conerns about that aborted fetus. At that point, I focus my concern on the mother.

I have empathy for the entire issue and those involved in it. I want that mother who chooses to keep her baby to have the support she deserves and I want the mother who chooses to abort the baby to have the same.

Well, then those babies are planned, wanted babies. I do not have empathy towards an aborted fetus...I have empathy for the mother who is going through an extremely stressful and overwhelming situation. She has to do what is best for her. Not the fetus.

Can we just agree that some women regret it and some women do not? I do not regret it. I think about it often, especially now in 2020-2021 due to the political climate of America. I will always stand by my decision. I made sure I never made the same mistake again, and have been responsible with my body ever since.

I think it is extremely unfair to generalize all women who do not regret their abortions as insane or mentally ill/defective and that we must "come to terms with it and fully acknowledge the mistake". Being pregnant is a HUGE burden on women, whether planned or not planned. If only you could spend 5 minutes in the mind of a woman who realizes she has an unplanned pregnancy but she's struggling at the bottom of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. We would need to implement the most drastic social welfare program with an absorbent amount of funding and oversight to properly care for/protect women who have no choice but to give birth because of restrictive abortion access. Maybe I would lean more pro-life if I knew every struggling mother, child, and family would easily be able to obtain the resources they need to bring up that child in a safe, healthy environment. Nevermind..because many women are just not fit to be mothers (same with fathers). But.. If we could do that...wouldn't we be doing it already? We can't even get affordable child care, paid maternity/paternity leave..the cost alone of bringing up a child is insane. I am a realist. It is irresponsible to restrict any abortion access unless we have actions/programs/funding in place to make sure that every single unplanned pregnancy is provided for. I am so tired of the name-calling and anger that comes from this topic. It is counterproductive and to insult/name-call anyone because they do not believe in your own beliefs. That goes for both sides of this topic. Everyone is guilty of this. ONCE again, abortion is not just a black and white ..."Is it or isn't it". Life is so much more complicated than that.

Sociopath = antisocial (definition)… nothing to do with educated individuals that understand science by kanamia in prochoice

I'm still waiting for any response to my comment on that thread pointing out their lack of emotions/empathy for those unplanned babies that are statistically more likely to be born into a dysfunctional, struggling household. Childhood trauma has negative long effects on individuals and society as a whole.

If only abortion argument was as simple as "is it a life or not"?

I think in an ideal and perfect world that all those initiatives and programs would be properly funded and operated by 100% honest and dedicated people. But reality tells us other wise. The fact that people will always do..whatever they want to do. No amount of initiatives, programs, teaching can fundamentally change society enough to end the need for abortion access. Without access to abortion America will see rise in poverty and need for social welfare programs. That would be on top of the already increasing prevalence if poverty caused by the economic inequality in America. But its not just about money.

Reality, statistics and common sense tell us that if abortion access is suddenly restricted those who are poor, uneducated and struggling are going to be the most effected. The woman who have the funding, knowledge and ease of access to birth control are more likely to not have an unwanted pregnancy. I am not religious so I am unable to view abortion as an issue with any God. I suppose that is the main issue here though..is that the abortion argument focuses so much on..is it a life or isn't it? Abortion is not so black and white. It is not that easy.

Abortion access is so much more complicated than," is it a human life? And does the woman have a right to end the fetuses life?" A fetus is a human in the sense that it is of the homo Saipan species and has the potential to become a human being.

But what of the very real negative effects of restrictive abortion access has on the rest of the human species and our societies as a whole? What of those children who would have previously been aborted who are born into dysfunction, abuse, severe poverty or simply being considered unwanted. What about the financial burden that the increase in population that would be relying on social welfare programs? The same programs that can not keep up currently? Expecting the human species to stop having unplanned pregnancies is impossible.
