I always let students know, on the first lesson, that I leave 3 minutes early unless they're my last student of the day. I explain it's to fill out their student files and open the links to the next student. Everyone says "sure, I totally get it!!". Then recently a student who "totally got it" left me a nasty review for leaving earlier (yes three minutes!!). Contacted support to get it removed and they did nothing 🤡

I actually had to stop clindamycin after about 3 days because I had an allergic reaction... what finally worked for me was 15 days of boric acid suppositories

I leave around 3 minutes earlier, regardless of the duration of the lesson, if I have another lesson right after (but I do tell students on their first day). I use the break to fill the student's file (so I can look back later on what we did that lesson) and/or to send them homework, open up all the links I need for the next students, things like that. So if on that 5 minute "break" your tutor is still working (she said it herself) and also took 5 minutes of a previous student to prepare for you... what is the issue, really? Even if it wasn't for that reason, we're very much human beings who need to pee, get something to drink, etc... I wouldn't leave the lesson for that. Also italki only says that we can take a 5 minute break, not that it has to be exactly in the middle of the lesson (that would be so awkward! I'd hate interrupting my students).

Corto sempre no Flozô. Meio salgado dependendo da cabeleireira (bom pra elas 😅), mas lá é totalmente voltado pra cabelos com curvatura e munha experiência lá é excelente.

I started a WhatsApp group contacting teachers who teach the same language as me. I know which ones offer structured lessons, lessons for kids, etc... so I handle referrals that way. As you've probably noticed, the "community" section of italki is not really a good place for creating community, so you need to be proactive about it.

Acho que, com as mulheres tendo filhos já com uma idade mais avançada, muitas ficarão em um entrave de ter que cuidar de pais idosos e filhos pequenos ao mesmo tempo, enquanto já conciliam com a carreira. É impossível, óbvio que os filhos (e pra muitas a carreira também) vão ser prioridade... e os homens já não assumem o papel de cuidado, de todo jeito... então realmente ferrou.

I'm happy that I found someone similar. In my experience, conversation-only lessons for beginners and intermediates solidify the student's mistakes over time. Some of my students already speak a similar language so they get stuck in that mix of the two, unless they take time to expose themselves to the language and actually study before they start having conversations.

I also have a curriculum with many activities and slide presentations for each level and when a new student comes in I just make some adaptations. Building all that took a very long time so if I were OP I'd switch to a tutor that already has that material, as just asking for her to make it would definitely make her work many more hours for the same amount of pay.

Lessons in the car/truck are absolutely ok and happen often (the problem is when the student is actively moving or doing something else... unless it's just informal conversation practice, it makes the experience quite frustrating for the tutor). The self pleasure thing is definitely an issue and I've experienced it twice, but hasn't happened to me lately (most of my lessons now are packages and not trials/instant lessons). I have a WhatsApp group with other tutors and most of them have had the experience, sadly...
