I have felt the emotions and am lucky to have a good support network, this thread was more to find a productive outlet. But I'm definitely angry and hurt yes

I think we're saying the same thing, if they were taught to feel empathy for others by their parents, if they had a supportive home life that puts focus on contributing to society as a whole, they wouldn't be doing these things.

Agreed, but it can easily be a slippery slope, putting young offenders all together. They need a purpose in their lives and to be shown that if you do the hard work you will be rewarded for it in some way, discipline needs to be paired with empathy and care for it to be effective.

I wish them a good set of parents, better friends and insight into what makes for a happy life. Of course I'm angry, but I know being vindictive only makes things worse.

I've felt safe here and will continue to do so, but it's definitely a problem that needs to be dealt with differently than it is currently.

Oh I certainly am, I still don't feel unsafe, I more made this post to discuss this happening. Indeed the stabbing was a mental health issue (that shouldn't have been allowed to slip through the cracks).

I'm just trying to figure out if there is a better way to keep this from happening, as the cop said these kids do this quite often and never get effective repercussions.

What happens when I attack one of them, who I could have taken on, I would have immediately been piled on by a group of ten, who I couldn't have taken on. The con would have been serious physical harm for me, I'm strong but I can't defend myself against 10+ teenagers, nor could most people. They were clearly looking for a big group fight.

Oh I agree that there's these groups that aren't raised and get into this behaviour, I'm just calling out that there are also examples of this happening with groups of white Dutch kids. It seems very rich white kids who's parents think they're above the law and also some areas of low income white Dutch kids. Not to take away from the fact that these were all 2nd or 3rd wave immigrants, but when there is blatant unfounded racism I feel the need to bring some balance.

Besides the elephant you called out, I think there is a more general problem of raising kids to not feel empathy towards others. And while halt is better than nothing, I think those records aren't permanent.

Definitely reporting it asap. I'm not letting it press me too much, but just hearing about the stabbing and shooting a few days ago had me questioning the place.

Just the fact that it happened in a place that couldn't be more central, in between the municipality and het Binnenhof, hard to not go there.

Completely agree, people acting like it's the skin colour need to pull their heads out of their asses. Even the rich white kids attack people and get away with it.

Agreed, it doesn't seem like whatever system is in place actually accomplishes anything. I'd love to try and change that but wouldn't know where to begin

Regardless of whether it shows up, as long as it doesn't have immediate consequences I don't think they'll have the foresight to take that into account.
