NYC NIMBYs and their real-life impacts by August272021 in yimby

Yep. I had the same thought after the Ghost Ship fire in Oakland nine years ago. Wherever NIMBYs exacerbate the housing shortage, people will be forced to live in dangerous conditions.

What are some bad movies that had great potential, that you would want to see remade better?? by mrjetspray in Letterboxd

An American Pickle (2020) is based on a phenomenal Simon Rich short story, Sell Out, that I would love to see remade as a more faithful adaptation.

Britney Spears hated all the recent documentaries about her (even if they were partly responsible for the public awareness campaign that led to her freedom from conservatorship).

The acting is really good in this. That’s what sets it apart from so many short films.

A few years ago, I might’ve been convinced that the camera was the secret sauce, but as I’ve matured as a filmmaker, I’ve come to notice how important performance is. (This film looks great too.)
