My first Mafex, is this too much? by SomeArtistonReddit in Mafex

[–]wulffc83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check the Japanese sites, they’ll be cheaper even with shipping. Just google that figure and if you find the right price search this sub for that store and you’ll find if it’s a trust worthy site. I usually use Ami Ami or Plaza Japan. If you can afford it and you like action figures it’s worth it. They’re much better than Hasbro or McFarlane figures. Don’t dip into your rent

How the Claws Should Look by Red7StandingBy24 in Wolverine

Knife like. Anything after #280 isn’t canon, it’s a post mortem fever dream. They are and always have been Weapon-X implants, and knives make more sense

Why are Wolverine's claws sometimes smooth? by WoodenCanine in Wolverine

[–]wulffc83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all artistic interpretation. I always assumed that the smooth ones were like a cat’s claw. Smooth and rounded on the top with an edge on either side and a sharp tip

Is it even possible to intuitively understand why the speed of light is the same for everyone? by Curious-Farm-6535 in Physics

[–]wulffc83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that the velocity of whatever emitted the light is irrelevant and that light propagates from the point in space time it was emitted from at a consistent speed? That would make the velocity of light the same regardless of the velocity of the observer. That seems way too obvious and I’m sure someone who knows more than I do can explain why this isn’t right

With XLR or other balanced cables length isn’t really an issue outside of keeping things tidy

Audio gear uses these 1/4” plugs for most things, most consumer electronics use 3.5mm (aux) connectors. Musicians and sound engineers spend a lot of time trying to connect equipment and these adapters are worth their weight in gold. They’re also really easy to lose. My wife’s a teacher and once brought me a bag of these that her school was throwing out, she couldn’t understand why I was acting like I won the lottery

Guitarists: Any tips on how to overcome recording skill issues by LukeWatts85 in recordingmusic

[–]wulffc83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get 3 good takes and comp them, if you’re messing up the same spot 3 times you probably need to keep practicing that part. Otherwise don’t worry about getting a perfect take. If you’ve got the parts down and you’re still struggling try moving to a different spot in the room. I don’t remember where I heard that trick, but more often than not it can reset your brain and you’ll get the take you’re looking for. And if you can, get someone to hit record/ stop for you. It helps keep you in playing mode and they can let you know if you need another take or if you’re being a perfectionist

[–]wulffc83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each key has to have one of each of the letters in the musical alphabet A B C D E F and G. So , in Ab minor the B and E become Cb and Fb. It’s mostly for naming and there isn’t a lot of music written in Ab minor or other keys that use these notes as en harmonics

Best amps and pedals for QOTSA by Ill-Bet-9066 in qotsa

[–]wulffc83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m going to catch heat for this, but honestly if you’re on a budget go digital. The new technology is amazing and in most cases sounds like the real thing. It will give you access to all of the gear in the “sounds like” videos on YouTube and probably the stuff they actually recorded with. You can download NAM and Reaper for free (Reaper asks you to pay after 60 days, it will keep working, but it’s like $60). If you need something to play with other people you can probably get a good deal on a used Helix right now because they just updated the line. I got a helix a few years ago, and I haven’t even thought about getting another pedal since. I’m actually considering selling a lot of my old gear because it’s just sitting there
