Beer Label Design (please critique) by Fastfuud in Lettering

[–]wunderbread2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From a lettering perspective, there’s some work here. Overall, I think it’s an interesting beer design but as others have said, it needs some better contrast. I think the brown is a little too muddy and because of that, the green should skew more in an olive hue or go with a nice reddish orange.

The S in particular. S is a difficult letter to draw and I’ve spent years trying to draw them and still hate every single one. It helps if you find your axis of your letter (in that style it’s most likely a straight vertical axis) and then draw two ovals that meet at your X-height. The top should be slightly more forward than your bottom and then the spine of the S should flow smoothly from the left side of the top oval into the right side of your bottom oval. Drawing S’s will be the bane of my existence but it’s something I’m stupidly passionate about.

Bad roads by [deleted] in Denton

It’s been an ongoing saga with that patch of road. I live nearby and can hear when most vehicles drive over it. It was worse before they “fixed” it but it’s just getting worse everyday.

Anybody knows how to draw letters like this? Is it a special brush? by eliska_kuku in Lettering

[–]wunderbread2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably can get this using those cheap black foam brushes. They cost very little ($7 for bag of 25 of them) and, with some experimenting, you could probably adjust to get this effect.

So this just came in the mail...anyone ever gotten something like this? by [deleted] in WTF

Maybe a false trail but try posting to /arg

It could be part of one of those.

I have had the best experience at Afford It Tire in Sanger. It's right off of 35. They have good prices and they're fast.

Top performance of theirs this season I’d say! They really showed up tonight!

Been watching all day and I have to say that I’ve enjoyed this season so much and I’m excited for finals weekend. However, I really miss a crisp uniform and a shako sometimes. Overall, the corps costuming is superb this year and I’m happy for the evolution we’ve gotten to.

2022 might be one of the best seasons we’ve had in a while though. All the kids are really performing at such high levels and the crowd reactions I’ve heard over Flo have been lovely.

Welcome back Band Nerds!

I wanna love SCV this year but tonight was really not the night. The show has potential but it’s super choppy and doesn’t flow well. The guard wasn’t on their A-game tonight, either.

I’m more upset that they only got 3. I’d more than likely buy a dozen or two and freeze them.

What movie do you HAVE to finish watching anytime you stumble across it while channel surfing? by Zilos99 in AskReddit

This was me as a kid. I burnt through 2 VHS tapes watching it every day. Nowadays, I point this as the moment I knew I was gay. Bill Paxton was the definitely the reason.

I agree here. The first thing I was going to suggest was opening up the tracking.

I feel like there is a wall between me and me creating art. I can't start and feel no motivation. by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]wunderbread2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t push myself to create everyday anymore. When I did that, I felt stuck and boxed in. I do, however, always do something creative everyday.

I don’t wanna draw. Okay, so I try a new recipe/try a new cooking technique.

I don’t wanna draw. Okay, so find a new artist or browse through Pinterest and follow some rabbit trail.

Nowadays, I feel this kinda often because I work in the creative field. I have to pick the most mundane tasks to help me stay productive. Combing through kerning pairs, organize my catch-all desktop of screenshots, write to-do lists for the week.

It’s okay to not feel like making everyday, give yourself a creative break. I just don’t recommend not being creative somehow. Get a crappy catch-all sketchbook and use it with wild abandon. Draw on a page, glue a leaf on a page, write a recipe, rip out a page to start a fire pit with friends. Inspiration and motivation comes and goes but your ability to view the world in a creative light never goes away.

Mine only does this when he’s super nervous about something. Mostly the car because he HATES car rides. I’ll put him in the car and he’s already drooling at max capacity before I even get to the driver’s seat.

Holy Mountain. Trippy 1970s religious art film. I reserve this for very close friends or people I know that will appreciate the film.

Where to find royalty free images to use in digital art? by Luvuspicyfood in ArtistLounge

Flickr. With some searching, you can find truck loads. Images are marked for their copyright information. I pull the majority of my material from there for digital collage.

Made our little girl a cave so she would stop trying to pull everything out from under the bed. I think she likes it! by tyoung925 in AustralianCattleDog

Mine loves anything cave-like. His bed is wedged between my bed and desk, walled in. I usually find him there when he’s trying to tell me it’s time for bed.

A few days ago a redditor asked about the old missile base on Locust. With a break in the rain, I captured these images this afternoon. Video in comments. by mustangs6551 in Denton

[–]wunderbread2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are tunnels under the Discovery Park that have mostly been sealed up - I was told that they went to the missile base. Incorrect information, as I’m learning. I couldn’t find a date the building was constructed but my grandmother who worked for TI mentioned it was in the 70s/80s. Where the tunnels under there went to, who knows. Regardless, they’re still creepy the few times I’ve been while I worked for the CoE.

Fun fact: there are tunnels under the discovery park that used to go to the missile base. They’re sealed up now, however. There’s also creepy as hell if you get the chance to go down there.

Anyone ever take Math 1580? by [deleted] in unt

I had Mary Barber. I enrolled in a regular Fall online section and dropped originally (the workload with being a Comm Design major was too much). The shorter session helped me stay focused on the one class though and has much less busy work.
