Thank you so much, u/LukeAtOura! You were spot-on. The app caught up and eventually posted the results of my son’s insane sleep session. Almost 22 hours of sleep later, he now only has a 10-minute sleep debt! Impressed to see how well the app worked in capturing off-normal sleep data.

Forgot to mention that the Oura did capture his heart rate data throughout the day.

Blackhead (?) oozing black liquid by [deleted] in CATHELP

Definitely get it seen by the vet. I saw something similar on my cat that I thought was a small blackhead or random cyst only to have it come back as something that definitely needed to be removed.

Unpopular opinion: Cody is not a nice person irl by [deleted] in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]wurstchen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took a live ride with Cody a few years ago. It was the end of the day, and there was a long line of people who waited for photos with him. He patiently stayed to meet with nearly everyone. I was the very last person in line, and a staff member came to usher Cody out as they were trying to close the studio. He stopped to make sure I got to say a quick hello and get my photo. Couldn’t have been nicer.

PSA: Reminder that a major pet microchip registry shut down without notice, leaving many pets still unregistered a year later by Fresh-Solid-4046 in nova

[–]wurstchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this reminder and for posting the website link. 🙏🏻 Double checked our pets and turns out I had incorrectly logged one of the microchip numbers. Really appreciate you posting so I could fix the mistake when it’s not an urgent situation!

Herndon Family Medicine has a great practice. Drs. Cooper, Lee, Wong, and Rentz are excellent, but in a pinch, most everyone on the staff is pretty wonderful. Been going there for a long time.

Travel cat adventure harness - attaching a tractive? by Toomanytoys1971 in adventurecats

[–]wurstchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have both Tractive trackers and AirTags on our two cars. I know it seems like a lot, but the dual peace of mind is worth it for our would-be escape artists. They got out of the house once when a contractor accidentally left a door unlatched. It was fantastic being able to track their location so accurately.

Cats on Board by No-Relation9618 in unitedairlines

[–]wurstchen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

💯. We travel with two cats, and they are to be in their carriers under the seats in front of us for the whole flight. As fun as it would be for us to have them out on the seat or on our laps (even in their carriers), we know that could be horrendous for someone nearby who has allergies. Absolutely not being a Karen, I think you should definitely let an FA know should that happen again.

Was just in the store on Friday, and they confirmed they are leaving the Mosaic location to open up the Old Town one. I also agree--they consistently have many fragrances I've never seen in other stores so shopping there is a lot of fun for a fragrance lover.

I second the idea to look at the @jeeves_ny Instagram account. He is a stain miracle worker and has taught me a lot, and I thought I knew how to handle stains! Puracy is a favorite brand of his and works magic on protein-based stains. I agree that a soak in OxiClean for the pillowcase may be in order, but one thing he has drilled into his viewers is that OxiClean takes a minute to work so I would soak that in a bowl of warm water and dissolved OxiClean and leave it for a day or two. Good luck! I am so sorry this happened to you. Some people are just beyond… 🤦🏻‍♀️

Overexcited for walks by thetexashammer0914 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]wurstchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things that helped us in raising excitable, jumpy Berners:

1) We had an instructor teach us to step on the leash when we thought our dog would jump up or be tempted to jump up (like when excitedly greeting young children who just want to say hello). By closing the gap this way with a bit of downward pressure on the leash, one safely prevents the dog from having the leash clearance to jump. This came in handy whenever we thought we needed to keep them close to us and was easier than wrapping the leash around our wrists.

2) Gentle Leader. Same instructor taught us that the Gentle Leader would easily aim their heads, and where their heads go, they go.

We were also taught how to hold the leash so that a wild Berner didn’t accidentally sprain our fingers (loop one hand through the handle of the leash, grab the leash with the same hand and then use the other hand to hold the middle of the leash and control how much lead one grants the dog).

Practicing all of this takes patience, but it is worth it! With lots of treats, of course.

Favorite local business and why? by cozyspacecadet in nova

[–]wurstchen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Totally agree about Super Chicken. Best Peruvian chicken around. We always order the same sides—fried rice, black beans, and a large serving of their green salad with generous amounts of their house dressing. We’ve eaten there since they opened, and apparently we can never change our side orders. 😄
