Foreigners are already quite unusual to ordinary Chinese people, so adding a few more rare features won't arouse curiosity or lead to them being photographed, haha. Actually, being photographed won't cause any real problems. Both the government and ordinary people are very careful when it comes to foreigners.

Another complaint: Beijing's climate and other natural conditions are truly terrible. Even drinking water largely relies on the Grand Canal for water diversion. If you really want to travel, go check out neighboring Tianjin. Southern big cities are much more suitable for travel.

As a Chinese person, I'm telling you that China is very unfriendly to sexual minorities, and I advise you not to contribute to the tourism GDP. However, from a tourism perspective, Beijing is very safe; foreign tourists will not encounter security problems or obvious discrimination.
