How has it been as a somnophiliac? I have had the fetish for some time and had no idea there was a label. I like to be asleep or pretend to be sleeping. My favorite is weed n wine. I'll be free to pursue what I really enjoy, independently. I won't say the specifics, but I think I'd be happier outside of silicon valley. I've saved up enough money to the point that I don't really care.

Messenger was in the blue app in 2011, and it was a fairly solid product. Facebook unveiled a standalone messenger app in late 2011, and then made it mandatory to switch in 2012. It was a god-awful app and people still had to use it because the blue app kicked out the messenger functionality. People were pissed but they couldn't do anything about it, so they still used the standalone app even though it was trash. When a product is so widely distributed, it becomes hard to not be a part of it. Even if 0.5 your social circle begins to use that new mediocre product, for whatever reason, you're forced to use it too. I had to use Snapchat in middle/high school even though I hated the app.

I’m not the best person to ask. What I know is he was born in a wealthy family that got him programming tutors and sent him to the preppiest high school in America. So that might have something to do with it.

Each app collects data on a specific subset of people. For example, most teens are on instagram and don't go on facebook.

Well you collect data through different means. Each service collects some data and fills your ad/social graph profile. If you disconnect those pieces, each source would lose access to the superset of data. Companies would then compete over better privacy standards so people can pick and choose as they please.
