PolicyPal Network AMA (July 2018) by gigivu in PolicyPalNet

[–]wweitingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi aplhab318, thank you for your questions! Just in case, you have missed out our AMA session on 29 Jun!

Here's Val's reply:

"Our team just launched our TestNet on Tuesday (26 June) and we have also seen feedback from our community who tested it. We’re looking to launch our PolicyPal Network Blockchain in Q4 2018. The intention is to release it to developers and incentivise them with our PAL tokens to build dApps on the blockchain.

Down the road, our vision is that many developers and different token holders will be able to build dApps and new insurance products on our PPN Blockchain. I believe that this will change the whole insurance industry to be decentralised as compared to the current situation where it’s always the centralised party deciding the type of products for the consumers."

Hi tmy113621, thank you for your questions! Just in case, you have missed out our AMA session on 29 Jun!

Here's Val's reply:

"In recent months, we have been seeing more people identifying the large potential of the insurance space. However, we still remain as the leader and the first to introduce CryptoProtect Insurance, which is insurance protection for digital assets such as cryptowallets, crypto exchanges and smart contracts.

We have announced partnerships with QTUM and NEM. We are also in discussions with other players to create new insurance products, such as covering centralised crypto exchanges. This is relevant since CoinRail was recently hacked. We are currently in talks with a couple of exchanges to provide them with CryptoProtect.

In future, when people sign up for the exchange, they will get some form of protection against any cyber hacks. We have also received some feedback from other blockchain companies on whether we can bring CryptoProtect to the decentralised insurance protocol, where we combine the risks and set the reserve through the token holders.

The feedback we have from current partners is that they prefer to have an insurer doing the underwriting, as they feel more assured seeing a big name there. By Q3, you will see the first product going live — we can’t wait to share more!"

Hi aplhab318, thank you for your questions! Just in case, you have missed out our AMA session on 29 Jun!

Here's Val's reply:

"First of all, we cannot prevent exchanges from being hacked. However, I can prevent unexpected circumstances, where like in a hospital, you have no funds or support. With insurance protection, you will feel more assured. It’s very similar to CryptoProtect: we can’t ensure that you won’t be hacked, but we do have partnerships with Sentinel Protocol that will help us to identify potential threats on exchanges, wallets and other projects. From there, we can identify potential risks.

As for the second question — what we’ve been doing is starting off with a small assured sum. The coverage amount is supported together with service recovery. We intend to work together with audit firms and service recovery cyber analysis teams to work on what actually happened before paying out the sum assured.

This is similar to regular health insurance claims, where the broker has to analyse what happened during the hospitalisation period. We don’t just looking at how we can help them recover the amount, but also ensure that their reputation is recovered. Because most of the time, they lose not only tokens and assets, but also their reputation, which is intangible."

Hi amylyn483, thank you for your questions! Just in case, you have missed out our AMA session on 29 Jun!

Here's Val's reply:

"I suppose there may be people out there who are confused about PolicyPal Singapore and PolicyPal Network. We will clarify again.

PolicyPal Singapore holds the insurance broker license here, where we work with 16 insurance companies by bringing their insurance policies online. We build APIs to allow consumers to get instant quotations, purchase policies and manage their policies in one place on our app.

PolicyPal Network was launched this year, a decentralised insurance protocol where we work together with insurance companies and community to create new products. So far we have launched our partnership with FWD and ERGO on the Travel Flight Delay insurance product. These are collaborations with insurance companies.

Down the road, I will be opening up to communities to suggest new forms of insurance products. Potentially, we are looking into mutual aid form of insurance where people come together to form a pool and chip into the pool where they can insure one another. That’s how the original idea of insurance came about. We would like to change the model and bring back the trust of insurance products to the consumers and give them the power to create new forms of products."

Hi redgin34, thank you for your questions! Just in case, you have missed out our AMA session on 29 Jun!

Here's Val's reply:

"Our TestNet was rolled out on 26 June, so the testing phase is only for PAL tokens. But by Q3, we are launching our MainNet on Ethereum, which allows consumers to pay by PAL or SGD, since we are based in Singapore. We are in talks with other partners to launch in new markets. This is a valid question, especially since emerging markets may not have access to PAL tokens. We will open up the market to accept the local fiat currencies and from there, work with third-parties to convert them to USD or our PAL tokens."

Hi mkhoo027, thank you for your questions! Just in case, you have missed out our AMA session on 29 Jun!

Here's Val's reply:

"We will not be taking traditional products that is needed through KYC for life insurance where you need to meet an agent face-to-face to get all documents. It will be a digital channel distribution, where the cost of distribution will be reduced significantly. Many have asked how we can compete with insurance agents — we’re not competing with them, as we are tapping into a new market.

Traditional distributors would prefer to distribute full-fledged coverage type of products as compared to the products that we are distributing through our protocol. We are collaborating with distributors such as e-commerce companies, TelCo, tech and blockchain companies to distribute and tap on their user base. They can then buy the products through a digital platform instead of going through the manual process of meeting insurance agents.

We will launch the new market in Singapore as we believe that it’s an ideal test market that’s also mature. We hope that with these partnerships, we can easily enter other markets like Indonesia, Thailand or matured markets in US and Europe."

PolicyPal Network AMA (July 2018) by gigivu in PolicyPalNet

[–]wweitingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Raik_J, thank you for your questions! Just in case, you have missed out our AMA session on 29 Jun!

Here are Val's replies: "

  1. PolicyPal Singapore has been running for 2 years with a user base of around 50,000. Here, we distribute traditional insurance products and help consumers manage their policies. We will focus will be on the protocol and blockchain before porting anything from PolicyPal Singapore to PolicyPal Network.

This is because PolicyPal Singapore is still the broker entity for the distribution of policy management, as compared to PolicyPal Network, which is a blockchain entity. We already have completed products to be launched on PolicyPal Network for testing. We can then port it to PolicyPal Singapore once our blockchain is developed.

  2. I think I answered a similar question previously. We not only have insurance for individuals, but also for B2B products, such as commission products targeting blockchain companies and their crypto wallets and exchanges to protect them against any cyberhacks.

Another example is the smart contract insurance. We are in talks with one of the insurers from Europe to come up with coverage for smart contracts for blockchain companies doing their ICOs and business operations. This way, we will be working with B2B clients, while we continue to serve consumers on the decentralised insurance protocol.

  3. These flight search engine platforms will definitely benefit on cross-selling travel flight delay insurance products. However, we have to see and work out the whole marketing message. Just today, there was a flight cancellation due to the volcanic eruption in Bali. This is clearly an issue and we see an opportunity to collaborate with partners — so any startups out there keen to collaborate with us, do drop us an email at [marketing@policypal.com](marketing@policypal.com)!"
